Hi.

Just making my first post to say hello. I recently started a new job which involves a daily 130-mile commute between Wakefield and Burnley, mostly on the M62 and am thinking about doing it on a maxi-scooter or something similar. I already have a VFR750 (currently languishing in my garage), but the all-weather protection of maxi sounds quite appealing.

Cheers.

hi.. the M62 is very windy over the tops past huddersfield so if you do you will need 300cc plus to deal with the cross winds etc, do you have a scoot in mind, or have you ridden a maxi scoot :D

Hi, there's a few of us in and around Wakefield. If you fancy meeting up you can take a look at the various Scoots we ride. Send a PM to me and I will try to help.

Never ridden a maxi before. The only scooter/mopeds I've ridden are a C50 and a C90 :)

I originally started looking at he Burgman 650, but now I'm thinking more along the lines of the Burgman 400 for economy/ease of maintenance/cost. I'd like to increase my fuel economy, After my first week of commuting daily, I'm currently getting around 48mpg in my Mondeo ST TDCi, so whatever I get will need to do better than that.

Not sure on budget yet, but probably around £4-5k.

B400 would work and should give 70+ mpg, that sorta money would get you a pretty new one, if you're 6' or more stick on the Givi screen, to help weather protection.

Just to have an alternative also look at the a Sym Maxsym 400, assuming you can do the simple oil change DIY every month or two.
