First day back on the Berg
Apart from wheeling her in and out of the garage to hose of the salt from the daily commute over the last months I haven't ridden her. So all set for a nice early start this morning and then she almost failed to start? Plenty of juice in the battery but I ended up having to start it on a full throttle holding the brakes on, luckily the engine caught and all was fine for my 24 mike ride to work, most enjoyable too

Glad you enjoyed the ride. It kinda makes the world look right again when you are back in the saddle eh!
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Re: First day back on the Berg
I had to leave work today (shame). It's the first time I've ridden in daylight since early November! The roads were dry, fairly quiet over the Cotswold hills and it was sunny a mild, all of a sudden the world is a better place

Mine has been sat in the garage connected to a battery charger/monitor awaiting salt free roads. Up here (in the northern Highlands of Scotland) it will be in hibernation for a few weeks yet. I'm looking forward to waking her up!

Re: First day back on the Berg
My 400 K8 has sat in the garage since buying it in August, just before it arrived by van I had a heart attack and got wheeled smartly into hospital, following surgery I had to not drive for a month in the first instance, then later for a week after having four more stents fitted which takes us to December... With colder weather now a regular thing and the imminent or not too distant snow fall I don't think I'll ride again until the better weather arrives around April. It's irritating but I don't want to get it covered in salt as it's likely to stay with me for many years, I just don't change bikes for the sake of it, the Burgy was my choice after 24 years of CN250 Helix ownership - remember, the Helix was the first Maxi Scoot but because Honda rested on their laurels Suzuki took the lead in further development... So I just HAD to have one!

Re: First day back on the Berg
Hello Meldrew, ~ yes you're right I bought my Helix new in 1990 but I didn't belong to any clubs and at that time was computer illiterate so had no on-line links etc. A test ride on a Helix demonstrator showed it to be just what I wanted, being an old motorcyclist my first instinct always is to check out 'hands-free' steering, good steering should run dead straight without any tendency to turn or to fall to one side. The Helix tested did just that so I ordered one - but was somewhat shaken when I found it to be a 'Dog' wanting to fall to the left on any surface if hands free.
I contacted Honda at Chiswick about this complaining bitterly, they said they would get a new bike out of a crate and check it for same condition, after they had done so they found it to be the same and advised that RIDING HANDS FREE IS DANGEROUS AND MUST NOT BE DONE, they refused to admit the Helix was faulty so I just had to get on with it making longer rides tiring on the wrists through having to hold the bike up, also the front tyre lasted just 6000 miles before getting below tread depth limit. After 24 years (when I became aware of the Burgman) I sold the bike with 7000 miles from new and in otherwise showroom condition.

Re: First day back on the Berg
And by the way, I'm on the mend now but don't like this wet weather with leaves all over the place, soon it will be salt and snow so riding is off until around April.
