Direct Access (DAS)

Finally passed it...
I have had an A licence for about six years now, with an auto restriction (code 78). Cost me an arm and a leg to convert it to a manual (about £600). Should have done my original test on a manual all those years ago, it would have been a lot cheaper. The current test is really tough and really should improve the standard of riding. If anyone else wants advice just ask!

Nice one doug,

there 's always something more to learn with many different aspects of riding. I did a Rospa advanced course 12 years ago, and im so glad I did it, I enjoy my riding much more now. Does this mean a geared bike is on the menu??? Or are you happy with auto's.??

I am almost at your level of profligacy when it comes to changing bikes. But then no-one could be quite a profligate as you

I'd love to be but to answer your question, yes a geared bike will soon be in my future, as I need to have a go... On that note, do you fancy a BMW? Go on, you know you want one....
PS Thanks for the congrats!

I've had a Street since Dec 2010, the best colour and older prettier lights (me, biased!).
The 2013 update tweaked some things, mainly I believe to reduce production costs, most significant is shift to GP style exhaust rather than underseat, which saved weight and they improved the throttle body design and mpg too.
Not personally ridden the MT09 yet, it's a lot of bike for the money but is reported to not have such sorted balance and fuelling, but main difference is the seat position & ergos. So suspect if you try out them both one will feel more suitable.
The Z1000SX looks good VFM but it's just whether your use warrants the extra size/weight, if I was 100% touring use it would be a good option, against a Tiger 800 perhaps.
Good luck
