Motorcycle ABS - Anti-lock Braking System Video...

Post by anonstarter »

A brilliant example of how ABS differs from non ABS on a motorcycle in 'slippery' conditions.

Should ABS be mandatory on new 'motorcycles? Is it survival of the fittest - or is it now survival of those who know better and can afford it?

great vid... never had abs on a scoot but when you see the difference it tends to wake you up to how you should proceed to be more careful in not locking up your brakes, generally i try and leave a bigger gap than some in front so i can react better .. getting old :D and rear combined first then front brake.. i do this so if i would need to react in a split second, i would not grab the front first in brain panic and lock it up... just my way of thinking and im sure we all do it differently :D
I cant seem to remember.. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way.

That horrid, nasty EU has already made it mandatory for everything sold in Europe over 125cc to have ABS from 2015, I think. (It might be later, can't be bothered to check right now).

Which is why we are starting to see a lot of scoots get it already.

Very good video and yes every maxiscooter should be made with abs even paying a little bit more for safety. If it means coming out of a situation with hardly anything wrong with you then a little bit more money for abs the better. 8-)

Not a great vid as he clearly locks up the wheels deliberately. And don't get me started on why learning to brake is better than relying just on ABS. ABS is fine in the correct conditions, crap in the wrong one. ABS is not the cure all it is sold as. It is another assistance which needs to be understood and used correctly.
