Going to have a look at a 2000 Burger 400 on Saturday. It's done 30K, speedo and handbrake not working, has a Motad pipe and K&N filter.
Any tips on what I should be looking for, or checking?

I guess it must be pretty cheap then?

Think it'll be an AN400X at that age, so pre-FI, there's lots of newer ones around with less mileage. Early rear wheel design wasn't ideal and fixed on later ones, mine was fine but didn't enjoy winter starting. I also used a K&N that helped mpg, make sure the snorkel has been removed.

Check normal stuff, fork seals and any pitting, brake discs and pads, tyres and wheel bearings.

I wouldn't be paying more than £5/600 max.

If it starts and runs ok all other bits can be repaired loads of spares on ebay .Speedo is usually the rotor inside speedo sensor gets broken changing wheel or just breaks up rear caliper may be seized or handbrake could just need adjusting .Parts for caliper still available handbrake piston only suzuki £45 with seals other one can get aftermarket £18 same for front caliper aftermarket pistons seals available .At 30 K if you thrash it will use oil so need to keep eye on that other than that check for play on rear wheel as splines wear in wheel if not lubed and can seize on if its had tyre recent should be ok .

Many thanks Poldark and Julian. He wants 400 for it, so as long as it's in not too bad a condition then I will go for it.
