Looking into heated grips for my mk3, any recommendations? Thought of the official ones and fitting them at Yamaha but it's way too costly.

Is there an "accessory plug" under the handlebar?
How difficult is it to do the installation myself?

They are not that difficult to fit.
Best tip is make sure that you can get both grips on and off easily before you glue them on.
You only get one chance!
Also make sure you work out where is the best position not forgetting the throttle twist grip!
I used some masking tape on the grips and bars so I could mark the optimum position.
Then take a deep breath and apply the superglue.
Don't mess about and put them on in one quick push.
Any dithering and they will stick where you stop resulting in possibly ruined electric grips.......
There are some other slower setting glues that you can use, perhaps some others have used them???

There is a plug, but it's not as convenient as under the handlebar. It's down behind the front RHS headlight. Yamaha originals are the same as Honda OEM. Keep searching ebay and you will get them cheap. Personally I like the Symtec ones which you install under the original grips.

Some of the OEM grips are a bit rubbish.
Suzuki & Honda to name a couple.
The oxford Grips get very hot and the latest type can be wired straight to the battery because they have a voltage regulator that cuts the power below a certain voltage.
So there is no chance of leaving them on

Seems a bit tricky. I was really hoping for the plug to be under the handlebar. Oh well. I'm going to ask Yamaha and get an installation price.

I found the Yamaha ones for like ~£130 on an online retailer and the Oxford premium ones on eBay for half the price than the OEM.

Are the Oxford heated grips universal?
Other brand suggestions?

Why ask Yamaha ? isnt there a local bike repair guy, he will be half the price of a Yamaha dealer or maybe an auto electrician for cars can help you out ?

Any other tip for cold fingers?

Good point. Didn't think of that.
Made a search and there are 3 repair shops in total including Yamaha and surprisingly one of them is right next to where I live. I'll ask both for a price.

Being the only TMax, and one of two maxis in town I wouldn't dare to take it to a car repair shop.

Most people will fit heated grips at much more sensible prices than Yamaha prices! eg the workshop I go to offers them for £80 fully fitted.
