SMIDSY'ed: hit by a BT van

I just love the first words from their lips... yes he actually said "Sorry mate, i didnt see you"
I'm wearing hivis vest, headlight on, white helmet, silver scooter, good visibility - no, what he should of said is "sorry mate, i didnt check my mirrors".
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=london+ ... 6,,0,11.56" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So it happened here, he'd pulled out right from the street previous to the location, moved to sit happily in the centre lane (traffic in both left and middle), i moved to pseudo-filter up to the turn-right only lane. He was going maybe 10mph, myself 20-25mpg(?), he pulls right as i'm moving along side (presumably to ignore the turn right, and squeeze back over past the junction), i'm like "woah this is going to be bad", do a little evasion right, and both our wing mirrors clip. Fortunately no other contact!
Could of been much worse if he swung out harder, or i hadnt dodged...

"pseudo-filter"...? can you explain this one to me, I'm a hick from the sticks so I'm unfamiliar with this big city lingo.

It is funny that SMIDSY really is what people say. Unless of course they are yelling at you for doing something which they don't think you should be. Like, er, filtering.
Lucky escape there.
Pseudo-filter: overtaking a line of traffic isn't strictly filtering, which is really where a rider is running between lanes of traffic all heading in the same direction as the rider (ie dual carriageway or motorway). But many people describe this overtaking as filtering.

Even if the mirror was checked you may not have been visible because the angle of view is usually narrower than you might think.

Glad u werent hurt mate. What time did it happen? I crossed there around 7:15-7:20 this morning. I usually do a lot more speed through there as well to catch up to the traffic lights next to the clock tower

We've already had one Muppet lose his life in exactly that situation. Glad to hear you weren't hurt

It was by that bit where you get three lanes, but there aren't painted lines. Traffic takes up the left and centre lane space, the right hand side has a run to the turn right only lane. I was approaching in that far right "lane", so left of the centre line, but not technically in a lane, despite being almost car width in size.
I could see his face in his mirror as I approached, so would have been visible if he'd looked (noticed).
@Halfa: 'twas about 0900, I'd dropped off the car for MoT.
