After reading posts which are some what miserable regarding new licensing laws etc... a little good news story here for you!!! I recently took delivery of a piaggio x10 with the new 350cc engine and happy to report quite an awesome bit of kit!! Having previously owned a couple of x7:s Burgman 400s and a peugeot (yikes) i can say this is by far and away the best machine yet!!

Acceleration is superb up to 60mph really good pick up, top speed ish 85mph and super quick throttle response, similar to that of a gts 300, rides over bumps far better than the burgman, massive 15.5ltr fuel tank, impressive lcd display and good riding position, abs, traction control, side stand that doubles up as a parking break!!, plenty of underseat space, usb socket, really well balanced, amazing fuel economy!!!, properly cheap tax and insurance!!!!



As i have only had it a couple of days i have not had the chance to take any decent photos yet but i will!! I am on the restricted 33bhp license (which ends in august) so i can honestly say if anybody out there is wondering what to buy who was in a similar position to myself then go for a test ride!! well worth it.....i was considering just waiting it out and going for a bmw c600 sport but whats the point in paying over nine grand!!!!!

I purchased my x10 from moto strada, in shipley, from Brian, decent chap and prepared to do a deal, so much so my pal also bought one which he is picking up on friday!!!!

You like it then? Is that Shipley West York's? If it is get in the Northern Riders and get some rides in with us as soon as the weather improves. Paul from Sheffield has an X10 and we found it very impressive.

I love my X10 had it 3 months now. Unfortunately Piaggio electrics strike again both the seat and petrol flap buttons have ceased to work with the seat one occasionally springing back into life. The petrol flap has been dead since the first bit of frost. The dealers are ordering replacement switches in the hope that they are the problem (cheapest option) they say. Otherwise major works! The centre stand has stiffened up, again dealers resolved it whilst in the workshop but after riding some 30 miles has stiffened up again. Had the Piaggio alarm fitted, after three attempts and a replacement it still will not go off if you move or shake the scoot, only goes off if you open the seat or stick your key in the ignition. What is the point of an alarm if it does no go off through movement. Hope you dont have similar problems.
p.s. Does your headlight have condensation in it? Mine is terrible, the dealers said it was normal until they saw how bad it was. Had to take pictures for Piaggio to get authorisation to resolve it. Also the paint has started to come off the exhaust again pictures for Piaggio, lol.

Probably just not manufactured with British weather in mind.
Shame because it's a lovely looking scoot.

It would be nice to see Piaggio sort out these minor niggles at source as it seems they are onto a winner here. I just hope they don't bury their head in the sand on this and miss the opportunity to really shine.

Glad you are liking it....but with 33bhp on tap it should go just as fast as Burger 400, which I always understood to be a genuine 90 (and more on the speedo). There again, I presume yours is brand new, so a) its stiff, and b) you are still running it in, so haven't gone for a top speed run yet!

That makes 2 x10s then with these probs.

The make or break will be if the dealers take it seriously enough to sort it out for you. Sometimes they don't believe you unless piaggio admit the problems.

Well, thanks for all this info, invaluable really. I was thinking of going for an X10 but am having reservations now.
I used to have an X9 and the electrics on that were a nightmare, piaggio didn't give a dam of course.
I ride a TMax xp500 but in my old age I'm finding it too heavy, added to the fact that it has a serious petrol addiction , it's too expensive to run. I was Hoping that the X10 was the answer, having second thoughts now.
My Mod life crisis demands something stylish, must be good at travelling 34 miles per day through Central London and be cost efficient .
If anybody can recommend anything that might fit the bill; it would be appreciated.
