Just cleaned my 09 plate MK3 Tmax and to my horror the exhaust is blowining and the mirror stalk covers are cracked !!
I think that due to the increased angle of the MK3 exhaust the water collects in the lower part of the big cab and has rotted through!!
Also the mirrors have cracked length ways down the stalk covers must have been the cold weather and vibration as its hard plastic!
My old mk1 & mk2 never had these problems anyone else have the same issues?
Regards
Steve

When Lyn sold me his TMax he came across the same thing on the mirrors so he replaced them with mirrors from Wemoto, £18 a piece.

I think you'd better take a few sedatives before finding out how much Yamaha charge for a new exhaust.... maybe better to look around for something from LeoVinci or someone - they only cost a small fortune. Or you could buy an Akropovic one for £800....

My RH Mirror stem has cracked as well! It did so years ago, and I've never bothered fixing it, and its never got any worse. Its just the plastic covering, isn't it?

My exhaust is OK (I think!). On my mk2, I had some internal baffles fail, giving it a rather deeper note than usual, though it remained totally pristine on the outside.

Perhaps water inside the mirror stem is freezing and blowing the covers.
