Not sure if I've posted this in the right place, but.......
Me & a few mates are planning on a Tour of Eastern Europe next year.
This will entail leaving Europort, Rotterdam & heading for Berlin. From there we will be crossing the border into Poland, and travel through the country to visit Auschwitz. After that we will ride into the Czech Republic to Prague. Then it's back into Germany & Nurnberg, finally stopping in the Bonn area & back to Rotterdam (and ferry home).
So, does anyone have any info on travelling through Poland & the Czech Republic? Places to stay, fuel costs, riding conditions, handy tips etc.
Touring in Poland & the Czech Republic. Any info?

Thats big mileage! How long you going for?
Hope you're not going on Lambrettas!
I went to poland a few years ago for football and stopped in Warsaw and then a couple of nights in katowice.
I got cheap digs from the national tourist bureau in Warsaw, and we ended up lodging with an old granny for the week.
Travelled south to katowice on the train and then got digs in the university halls of residence.
Both places were dirt cheap but a bit basic.
Auschwitz or Oswiecim as the poles call it, is about 20 miles further south from katowice.
Theres 2 camps left so don't make the mistake of just doing one.
Krakows not far away and is a beautiful city but we never got there.
The Poles were a bit violent before, during and after the football. But other than that, generally very friendly.
As always,, avoid the tourist restaurants, bars etc. or you'll get ripped off

Thanks for the info Julian, aren't you going to the Station on Saturday? I am sorting some tunes out for the Librarians, lol.
Earl, it's the usual suspects (Woody & Nickie, Little Steve, possibly Boo, Bananaman & Seamus). It's going to be about 10 days, haven't worked dates out yet but round about August or September. Do you fancy it? (Panzers optional, lol).

Worked in Poland many years ago, and the people were great; very friendly and welcoming. The police, however, were as corrupt as hell, and 'roadside fines' were commonplace for foreigners.

I did plan a trip but we went to the Alps found a campsite on the ring road of Prague had camping or rooms in the farm house you could also get bus into Prague Re Austwitz found a campsite near Cezch border of Poland which was only 60 miles each way so could dump gear and do a day trip. There was a guy on here from Cezch repub at one time we was going to meet his scooter club .Ill see if I can find info on campsites I think I just looked on google maps and followed links.Re Station no not going as yet wifes not keen on full night of " Reggae in ya Jeggae" LOL prefers a bit of Northern and the sons over with the grandson as well .We were going to visit Colditz as well which is not far from Cezch border and then go thro a mountain region to Prague

Nice one Julian. More food for thought.
It won't be Ska all night (just the band), as I will be mixing it up considerably (plenty of Northern). Will that sway you?
