That Puncture in the Rear Tyre...

Not very interesting post really...but suddenly realised I'd got pics of my Burgman rear tyre with the nail in it. It was pretty big...the nail that is! Take a look. Quality isn't good as it was taken on my phone.

You can see the Ultraseal oozing out around the nail. Unfortunately it didn't actually seal the hole when the nail was taken out. It was just too big, and the tyre was badly damaged inside. I now have a nice new tyre on. But the Ultraseal did it's job. I actually reckon I rode about 60 miles with the nail in with no pressure loss that was measureable.

It's the first time I've had the rear wheel out the Burgman. Got to say they are easy to work on and everything is nicely made and fits together very well.





I spent some time Waxoyling the lower frame parts ready for the winter but the paint looks good quality. We'll see just how good eh!

Looking at the reflection in picture 2 - did you get one of the Thunderbirds to take the pic ?
Cos he's got a icle body and a huuuuge head
Does he have to get helmets specially made?

Alright you two, ganging up on me like that! Of course it's Brainzzzz.... in the picture reflection. Well spotted. Most of the Thunderbirds boys have come over to Starfleet now. They got a good deal, no strings attached!!!... Rod, that disc thingy...it was slowing me down and very clearly wasting fuel! So I thought well, can't have that. So I'll let you know how I get on with it mounted in it's new position. If the disc goes rusty I won't be pleased though!

I did know somebody who was so obsessed with fuel economy on his car he actually doctored his brakes!

He asked if the pads contacting the discs and I told him not to worry about it - it was insignificant.
This he ignored and put springs to return the pads away from the discs when not in use. Drove around gingerly for a whileand decided it was a success. Next morning he got in the car, rolled down the drive, across the road and into the living room of the house across the road.

Just as you would expect, given several hours overnight the springs slowly pushed the pistons and fluid out of the way completely and he didn't know to pump it.

Same guy broke down overtaking a bus and muggins here spent an hour in the freezing cold drizzle diagnosing an accelerator pump problem
"Can't be because I took the diaghragm out, it wastes fuel and I don't floor the throttle so I don't need it"

A little knowledge is a very dangerous thing - one of his brainwaves cost him a limb.

Only because I've been laid up for 2.5 months with this knee problem. I gave the bike a good wash and leather and a bit of detailing just prior to my knee injury. You are seeing it with just a 100 miles on it since that clean. Anyway, I ordered the Suzuki dirt repellant paint on mine (Lucky for me, it had just been introduced that month when I ordered it) and now with the leak proof wind in the tyres I'm set to rock and roll. The dirt repellant paint was a bargain at just an extra £1,500 paid in cash straight to the salesman. He said it was better that way as the paint would be better quality. I knew that! Then later when they suggested the 'leakproof wind' I thought I should have that too at just a few extra hundreds of pounds. I'm so lucky to have such a caring dealer...don't you think!!! Already the dealer is thinking up new things for me to buy and try. They said I was the bestest customer they'd ever had!!
