Lake districts ride. 324 mile

Post by SOLO »

Hello people

Thought ill just post a little thread on my Saturday in the lake districts , starting From Leeds were i am in west Yorkshire, i set off on my scooter towards otley planing my route i head thru illkly and Skipton, having a stop at devils Bridge for a cuppa coffee, were there is the normal sports biker layed on road after going to fast i assume, considering the location and the bend leading to a straight road of temptation of full throttle to show off to other bikers :

After watching the helicopter land and finish my coffee, i head off making my way to Kendal, some really nice roads again, and liking the fact its a warm sunny day.

I finally make it to lake windermere, and was red hot and sweaty in my Armour jacket, very busy too:

So i finish sweating my ars off walking about the lake and head back to the bike, upon turning up and Black MP3 125 pulls up and a Burgman 650 Executive, and manage to get talking to them for a bit about there bikes, along with another guy about his old Vespa:

After i finished talking to the nice scooter guys, some poser bikers -that i call them- turn up:

I get on the bike and head up to make my way to Keswick to see another view that i wanted to see, on the way i stop at several locations including a little walk at old man of coniston:

Having a SOLO brake coffee then home ride:

Great write up and pictures of what seemed to be a good trip with a dodgy front end.

Of course you were up there a few years ago with the X9OC. Where was the photo of the FV432 armoured personnel carrier taken?
Yes i remember the ride with the X9OC, that was a good day, yes a lot of hills in the lakes, on this little scooter i found my self pulling in to let frustrated drivers pass. as fore the Tank it was on way towards Skipton from Kendal, i did not know where i was really so cant remember the pin point location. The FV432 armoured personnel tank thing, was not locked either or abandoned, was clean and working and looked like its been parked up, as the tracks on the floor was fresh.
Great write up and pictures of what seemed to be a good trip with a dodgy front end.
I was not so bad really before i went to the lakes, just the bang now and again on some really bad roads, but after the 300 odd miles in the lakes has made it worst LOL before i went to the lakes the forks did not move in my hands, so the trip really gave the scooters forks a run for its monye.

But i enjoyed it, had a smile on my face all the time, i forgot what my SOLO ride out was like, as for last year i been riding with bikers, power ranger type of riders, and not really enjoyed ANY of there ride outs! so nice to be solo and ride alone, i enjoyed it so much more.

hoping to one day visit ALL the lakes up there.

thanks everyone :D

PS- Meldrew you live in Cumbria, somewhere were i was, if i knew you was from that area i would have called by and said hello :D but only just looked at ur profile and noticed your from Cumbria lol
