Certainly did - got to do something while I'm on nights!! Can't say I've understood too much of it though!
Just watched the film bit of Freddie Mercury, and Brian May doing his thing - understood that!
(Why does posh spice always look so 'kin miserable?)

Yep...saw the scooters...lovely! I didn't understand much of the closing ceremony either. But it looked good.

I kinda half expected someone on here to say "OK, I admit it, I can reveal that I wuz in the Olympic closing ceremony!"
I wuz even more surprised to see that it wasn't any of our people.
Ah well....
PS I thought it was a load of old cobblers. Prior to it, my friends and I were laughing at the Spice Girls getting back together again, and I have to say, I'm not keen on them, but dyaknow, I think they were the best act in the show. Drove on, showed some leg, sang one song, fucked off! Brilliant.

Don’t know what was so right and British about the Freddy Mercury guy, they showed a video of a dead guy who was born in India, gay, and died of aids. Should we be proud of this person or am I not seeing it right?

I think the underlying message from both the opening and closing ceremonies was that we (the British) are not perfect and nor is our past. But we are aware of this. Instead, we ask the world to look at what is good about being British and enjoy it with us.

In the same vein, Freddie Mercury was a Brit Cit and made good music. His failings (including if some choose to include his sexuality in at least part of that heading) are well recorded but irrelevant.

Lennon, Bowie, the Pistols, Oasis, George Michael, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and almost everyone else there too - flawed, but with talent or something else that should be celebrated.

I have no problem with this myself, we Brits are complicated.
