The vibration from a standing start came back today, so I bit the bullet and stripped the clutch out.

Pretty easy tbh, side lower panels came off easily, and the transmission cover came off after some gentle prising. Clutch nut came undone with mates impact gun and it was full of dust, not lots but I airlined it out. Also deglazed the clutch plates and cleaned the tranny filter.

Glad I did this, the clutch spline had minimal if hardly any grease on and the clutch bearing was pretty dry too. Copper slipped all the bolts and lets hope its cured it.

So, I wonder if the dealer will charge less now Ive cleaned the filter? Due a service in 300 miles.

Well, my Xevo didnt give any clutch trouble till 16000 miles so yep, Suzukis must be rubbish!

Wouldnt want another Xevo though, hate to admit the Burger is better all round

I wouldn't say the burger is better all round, it's swings and roundaboouts really. From my point of view, I see them stacked up like this:

Burgman Pros:
Leg room
Pillion room
Underseat and console storage
Dash is easier to see
Build quality (by a long way)
Resale value
Better from a standing start than the Xevo

Xevo pros:
Price
Better seating for viewing (higher up, can see further/more)
Better mirrors (only my opinion - I like the fixed mirrors a lot)
Remote seat (on mine anyway)
Longer service intervals/Cheaper service
More mid/top end oomph (slightly)
Stainless steel exhaust which also sounds nicer
Better fuel economy?

Always nice to hear opinions from people that have owned both models.

True, the Xevo is cheaper to buy, service and run but for me the harder ride, poor screen and vibes from a start on the Xevo make the Burger much nicer. However, the Xevo does have a bit more character and is easier to clean too!

Barry, well done. They've stopped using grease on manufacture cos it's dirty stuff. Barry you are a member of the Fred Dibnah mechanicalling school.
I've not taken my Swing or B650 in for servicing from new, I have 4 big pots of different grease that gets applied to the ungreased parts that manufacturers do not touch.
Be careful with applying grease to areas that attract dust, as in the clutch area.

Barry, nice one. I may do the same to mine in a few hundred miles to make sure everything is nice and dandy.

Well, it appears to have solved the juddering.... but now the end piece of my exhaust has come loose but only when hot. Rattles like a good un but when cold is solid.

Well, 600 miles have passed and the damn things juddering again..... what with Suzukis crap servicing at my dealer and now this again its safe to say I wish Id stayed with Piaggio. I knew I was right Meldrew

Barry, It's still under warranty, why not take it to a dealer for a diagnosis?
