If I can use my UK driving licence in Africa, USA, Asia, why would the European countries not accept it? I am firmly Remain but a lot of these sill scare tactics don't help.

Believe me the IDP is worth every penny. I was more than happy to hand over at check points and hotels and if it got nicked no biggie as I still had my original kept safe.
