Thanks Dave, A1 is a good plan - we used the A1 when we visited the Lakes earlier this year - much more interesting route.
I'll be taking the Forza 300 and plan to use B&B's or hostels rather than camping.
Guess nearer the time we'll meet up to discuss finer details but happy to either go up Friday 16th or early Saturday.

The public announcement there says .......

Camping or bnb for as long or as far as you want .Mainly west side of Scotland you can do whole thing if you want .Ullapool, Durness to Tongue are best bits plus Applecross, Gairloch to Ullapool .I've started a group just for the trip .Maxi-Muppets Do Scotland NC500 Man V Midge closed group to share info and itineraries. I'm not on forum now but trip going ahead .https://www.facebook.com/groups/352327638479392/

..... It's a closed group so only members of that group will be able to see what it says, so basically you need to join facebook & then join that closed group (.https://www.facebook.com/groups/352327638479392/) if you want to go on the ride

No, not at all, the announcement is on the Maxi Muppets facebook page, the linked closed page for the event is intended for those interested in attending.

So do we start a 'splinter group' and do our own trip - sounds good to me
