After removing the Foresight from the garage today - to give me working room I raised the CN on the lift so that I could get to the underside to find the oil leak, taking the fill plug out I found NO oil present - it had all leaked out of THE DRAIN PLUG over the months it had been on the lift.the underside was dry except for a dribble of oil hanging from the plug that indicated the position of the leak - which could have been my fault for not renewing the drain plug’s copper washer when I refilled oil last year thinking it was ok, it’s amazing just how much oil was lost over the period from such a small leak.

With all the leaked oil mopped up the 15 minute job took me over an hour and I was completely knackered to the falling over stakes after riding the Foresight (which appeared to have got much heavier) back into the garage.
Def not good for an 83 year youngster having had two heart attacks and being fitted with 9 coronary stents that have extended my life by several years. But today’s job had me buggered completely with exhaustion for next 4 hours.

Next job will be to re-fill engine with 10-40 semi-synthetic oil tomorrow in readiness for its MOT on 18th Sept. Then it goes in to repairer on 28 sept for the new crankshaft to be installed.

Pleased to hear that there was a simple explanation for the leak after all this! Fingers crossed the crank swap will eliminate the vibes.

With the leak found next job was to find copper washers! Easy? Bet your life it wasn’t !! But I got them from London after spending two hours on the web searching;
300 Assorted copper washers: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300Pcs-Assor ... 0041.m2061

I bought last two packs so as to help others because no one I tried kept them, so I looked on the web & found them in London. Sizes M5 to M20 - ideal for the Helix M14 I.D. Drain plug. PM me !
