I'm jinxing myself!!! I had to do a quick stop this morning due to a car pulling out while i was filtering, and the bike just stalled. I tried starting a few times, no luck.

Pulled over to the side and was almost getting ready to call the AA when i remembered to kick the side stand a bit in case the sensor was triggering cut off switch. Then the bike started up.

This happened a few times before and i always managed to start it up again. Of course there's the off chance that it's not the side stand sensor at all and a bigger problem beneath... Well if that turns out to be, i'll be observing the AA's skills in Wales this weekend :) The hell with it, this is not gonna keep me from coming! (the bike stalled once more afterwards this morning)

thanks mate :) we don't leave our burgers behind though ;) I haven't yet. I used to have a lot of issues in the old 650 to the point that i eventually cut the cable for good. I'll oil the switch on this one if it keeps happening frequently.

I don't think this is the same issue as the old burgman had though. With that one, it was a matter of sticking after i took off the side stand, whereas on this one it seems to me that on sudden movements or bumpy road surface, the side stand moves about, which in turn triggers the switch to kill the power. This might be down to a spring issue rather than switch itself. I'll have to wait and see... Maybe one of you can keep an eye on the side stand during the ride out to see if it's moving up and down...

I'd stick with the Burger Halfa, Horobags is coming on some sort of pre-war farming machinery again

It does sound like it could be a weak spring - that is the trouble with all these "safety" devices, there are so many options when something goes wrong -
crud in the switch, crud stopping the stand going home properly etc. If the engine doesn't cut when you jiggle the stand around don't forget the cut handle bar off switch connectors
WE ARE THE BURG resistance is futile
