Well I found where my intake roar was coming from! How long has unfiltered air been going into the engine! :o Also found while the remote seat release wasnt working. Why on earth would someone cable tie it there. Must have taken longer to go and get a cable tie than it would to have bolted it back where its supposed to go.

I've repaired it with sikaflex for now but will order the new one from Suttons. The x9 one looks different to the nexus one. Should be nicer to ride now. The remote seat lock works fine now i've put the little 8mm bolt in. 8-)

Thanks. Sadly my pads didnt turn up today or I would have fitted them. I was going to do more than I did but it was so nice I took the wife to leigh-on-sea and had a cold beer. :D Got to have a look at the brake light switch tomorrow...

You cannot fit the 8 roller type without fitting a new rear pulley assembly which is expensive. The belt is different as well. I was going to do the same thing until I found out that the rear pulley was £260 couple that with the £150 for the new variator & another £50-60 for the belt, although it's supposed to make the bike smoother it's just not worth it.
i have experience of this. belt snappage at 100mph 3 times. dont listen to what people say you must change both

Yes, I'll stay with what I've got and just fit Dr Pulleys.

glad you enjoyed your well earned beer, been a stressful or eventful week for you, the switch has a pull out wiring if you press the clip, and the switch unit is screwed in fully, could be its too far unscrewed, so not getting the red tip pushed in for starting, if its all the way in and the tip is fully springing back and forward will need changing, but if you are ordering from suttons then save on postage and get this from them too, you probably know how to take the handlebar covering, but just to say, its in three parts, the back(towards driver) the front, and then the pull off red centre , can release it from the thin outer edges, red central part (towards driver) there are two screws either side (upper and lower) of the rear black section and you must also undo the one screw under the red centre section to release the black half of the covering, then take off the flaps that covers around the brake master cylinder of the side that the switch is faulty, you should have enough access from this point. but antway if when pulling of the rear black cover, the front also comes away, then they have not bothered to put the four hidden screws in the front half of the handlebar covering, these are important ones which stop a lot of the vibes and the covering vibrating. i would always advise anyone to get 4 screws and tighten the front on, you will find 2 either side when you have a gander, dont loose the throttle cable rubber and when putting back together make sure the switchgear white block connectors , one on left and right strapped to handlebars dont get caught up when tightening the front cover, check indicators lights horn and starter etc before putting back cover back on, just to make sure no stress on wiring, thats it hey presto.... the four hidden screws are important... 8-)
