Dartmouth ferries will take large numbers of bike's, but would suggest that the upper ferry is the better option. Local bike and scooter clubs often ride through South Hams and South Devon in groups of around 25 to 30 so the locals are accustomed to the sight of large groups. Biggest problem is in towns etc, when trying to get everyone through traffic lights, and across junctions, although having ridden in these groups I have been surprised by the car drivers moving over to allow you through and waiting for you to pass over junctions.
Main roads like the A38 and the A30 are a different matter? These roads are full of tin box assassins.

Rick Steins got a place in Falmouth which strangely enough is cheaper than his Padstow restaurant?
If you're going to treat yourself Julian, I can recommend either the crab cakes or the sea bass, well worth the money ;)

A party of ten of us went to Rick Steins Falmouth restaurant/takeaway in early January this year when we spent a week over the new year in a house we rented in Falmouth. It was the most disappointing meal we had whilst down there. Don't expect too much! icon_sick.gif Two of us really were. :(

If you get the chance to go over the estuary to Polzeath, there's a place called the waterfront which serves up some superb meals
