what I find interesting is that scooters info are saying the mk4 tmax is slower than the previous 3 Tmax models ?
So the Yamaha engineers were wasting their time , reducing the weight and increasing the cc's!

Well yes....especially acceleration wise, especially as the mk3 wasn't very quick in immediate acceleration (a malossi variator made it more fun). I think Yamaha put all their efforts with the mk4 into improving midrange grunt - say the 30 to 50mph acceleration when it pulls like a train. The other side of it is that I found that the mk4 seemed to give no more top end at all than the mk3, so it looks as if Yam must have raised the gearing a bit on the mk3. There is of course not a lot more outright power in the mk4 than the mk3, but the mk4 has more torque, hence the mid range grunt!

I got my Mk3 down to 5.5 seconds from 0-60mph, standard set up provides about 6.5. Amazing what Dr Pulleys, Brisk plugs and Shell Nitro+ can do... thinking about it... now I have a new belt it should have improved

when you come to change your air filter funky, ( save 2 x 2 pound coins a week ) then get the sprint filter... as you have done the spark fuel and exhaust and dr pulleys this is the last piece of your jigsaw remember anonstarter laughed when is said (i think he thought it sexy ) ....."suck bang squeeze blow...
The four-stroke engine is an internal combustion engine. The four strokes are: intake, compression, combustion, and exhaust. This is most easily remembered as "suck, squeeze, bang, blow". Intake means to pull in the fuel. Compression is when all of the fuel is squeezed. combustion is when the fuel explodes inside the cylinder. Exhaust is the waste smoke.

variators plugs exhausts airfilters all to gain a second or two is it really worth it ???
only if so just buy a sports bike it will be quicker handle better and stop better

Im with you Funckiecowie If that air filter is as good as the mods we are doing then i would opt to leave it out altogether which would be dumb ass

I'm in agreement. If you want to go seriously faster get a machine that is designed and equipped to do it properly!

But I do also understand the desire to improve a bike or a car, to make it just that little bit quicker than an otherwise identical model.

So live and let live, I say.

jamie cant ride one as im too old and my back knackered, and if i braked hard id be superman over the handlebars but im still young at heart and get bored easily so whats wrong in having fun, dont forget we are here only once, my dad used to say,
"this in`t a trial run lad, so do whatever puts a smile on ya fosh"
if you can always turn a negative into a positive you wont go far wrong in life and just go for it

what would be the point the tmax would win the standard 1/4 mile .. but wouldn`t it be great to have a go at a drag circuit.. but going off tangent here as the op wants a smaller scoot than his tmax as too heavy etc in traffic

Whats the Kymosaki weigh if tmax too heavy then that may be as well .Tmax engine is low and flat gives it low centre of gravity .Id say needs to look at 150 kgs or under for a big difference .Although Im a big Tmax fan now prefer lighter scooters and life in the slow lane
