Hello to you all ,I have arrived late in the day over the mcn review but here's my opinion for what it's worth . Firstly I think they must have had a faulty srv as mine appears to be able to do all they claim it not to be capable of including the comment about being or not being a sub stainable form of transport lol . Filtering was another area they got it all wrong . I know as owners of various forms of maxi,s we all may have a slight bias but IMHO. They would have made a better job by getting real owners reviews and printing them for true comparisons . I also think they should have included a few other players like kymoco s 700 freewind piaggio x10 500 etc . They tried to class all under the same banner which they would not do with bikes which was also unfair in the comparison stakes .

Having ridden a Gilera GP800 long term, I reckon what they said about the SRV was spot on. Having owned both the TMAX and the BMW C600, they are much more competent maxis in a way that the SRV/GP800 are not.

The tmax is great no doubt about it and would have been top of my buy list as well .I tried a bmw and for me it just felt wrong . The srv ticked more boxes than the others when i was purchasing my scoot and one big thing was getting it on/off the centre stand with relative ease as i have a partial disability . Unlike mcn tester i found it to be the easiest to do this on and again we all have our own personal views . I agree to a point about being competent ,however with the big bucks i saved on the purchase price i am slowly making the srv better and more personal to my needs .All i can say is i tour on it ,i commute on it ,i filter on it ,i have even tracked it so only need a bit of off road and it would have done the lot lol .I also travel around still with many friends who run sports bikes and it has not disappointed .I rode a gp800 which felt a completely different animal yet on paper it is not , with just minor tweaks and cosmetics . I also when abroad rode a gp800 which had suspension upgrades (which can go on srv) and this was really improved and competent again just my opinion .

It may be that the SRV gets a bit of getting used to? Maybe as an owner you are used to it and filtering it is no problem, but for some reason the reviewer (who'd hardly ridden the bike) didn't feel comfortable about trying. It may be like the handling of vintage Vespas/lambrettas which are fine for those used to them, but scare novices! You are lucky that didn't moan about the chain on the SRV (unlike the Integra)

Yes they did moan about the chain lol ,which in all fairness has never bean an issue ,b ut would have been better if it was a belt drive IMHO . Personally I felt after testing some other maxi,s that the srv was closer to a bike than a scooter and agree what suits 1 does not fit another . I did find a lot of his comments childish to say the very least .

See another forum full of knowledge as I was led to believe I could have had one of those if I wanted 1 . I have read some good reviews on them as far as build a reliability etc ,but never got to try one . Mind it's hinted at the motor is the same as the BMW .

It isn't the same engine.

A few people put 2 and 2 together and got 7, mostly those who wanted to knock the BMW by trying to say you could get one at half the price just because it had a different badge on it
