On another note as from January next year insurance companies will have to give existing customers the same deal as new ones, so no more automatic price hikes :D :D

To any one that remembers this case. In the past month i have sent four emails to Hastings regarding this claim, i have had NO reply. Today i phoned them, after forty minutes someone answered the phone. Eventually i got throught to someone that knew what they were doing, they told me that the claimant was with Direct Line insurance, and that they were waiting for proof ie, dashcam, cctv footage or witness statements, since the first of June. They contacted Direct line whilst i was on the phone, Direct Line then told them that it was NOT my bike involved, and the reg had been incorrectly reported. Hastings then told me the record of the claim would be cleared from the datta base of the insurance companies,( but it would take seven days to clear). I had been on the phone for one hour twenty minutes. My insurance is due for renewal on the twentyfith of this month. Hastings have sent a qoute one hundred pounds more than last year, but they say after the claim is cleared it will be reivised. Do you think i want to be insured by them again one guess. For anyone else that needs to contact Hastings i give you the free phone number that i used 0800 101 8172 They have sent me Emails confirming that the claim is being cleared, and, i also asked for it in writing.

Disgusting that anyone should be put to all this trouble through no fault of their own.

Sylar, that's excellent news. Only just seen this conclusion. Well done for your tenacity in getting it sorted. These things can be a trial all right! But you have to see it through to get justice. ;)

I got an email from Hastings ,saying they had investigated themselves, and found i was correct in saying, four unanswered emails , failed callback, and taking too long to resolve the issue. They refunded me £50. I think, saying i would contact the Insurance Ombusman had something to do with thier descision!

Nice one. But £50 is peanuts for the aggro they caused.

Your experience with Hastings mirrors my own. Terrible customer service and communication followed by buying off complaints at a later stage. They told me ( years ago now ) that they were aware of the shortcomings of their phone system and it was all going to be fixed soon! If more people complained it might alter the financial logic of their approach but I expect most customers just go elsewhere at the earliest opportunity.
