IMO flying a glider is much more enjoyable than flying a powered aircraft.

Gliders are definately challenging, but nowhere near as much as a full blown stunt/racer (Extra 300)
Helicopters for me though, harder and more intense to fly.
To get back on topic, a geared licence gives you more options if you need to rent/hire/courtesy bike etc even if you are completely sold on owning autos (I am)

Dunno - never done either! But somehow I trust an engine to keep going whilst I'd find the thought of relying on capricious nature and finding rising air currents a bit scary!gn2 wrote:IMO flying a glider is much more enjoyable than flying a powered aircraft.

Ah but the engines don't always keep running.....MrGrumpy wrote:Dunno - never done either! True...but I trust engines somehow. Though obviously if your engine fails you are in seriously doo-doo, whilst if you fail to find an updraft in a glider you can glide gracefully down...gn2 wrote:Ah but the engines don't always keep running.....MrGrumpy wrote:Dunno - never done either!
