Can be a problem taking out a used scoot, I'm sure that they should not vibrate. New is best if you can afford it.

Yes..thats very concerning. The smooth and powerful engine was the best thing about the 'wing for me.Dave Weller wrote:Can be a problem taking out a used scoot, I'm sure that they should not vibrate. .

Re: Silverwing test ride
Hi,
Just thought I would update the post by saying that today I took delivery of a new Silverwing in blue and rode it the 80 miles home through a mix of sunshine and heavy rain. Obviously I took it very steady with the new tyres and brakes but even so I was very happy with the scoot. Sorry to see my SYM go having had three of the Joyrides I think they are great little bikes but the design of the evo update did not suit me as well as the previous model, I found the seat less comfortable and the riding position more restricted for me, lovely engine though. I would have considered the 400 or 600 Maxisym but they are longer than the Silverwing according to the SYM brochure so were ruled out as I keep the scoot under cover in the back yard and access is restricted, so length is critical. Also I wanted more involvement with the product and there is little information about individual SYM scoots on the internet and I was never able to track down a workshop manual for the fuel injected version of the joyride. I know the Silverwing has been about with few changes since 2001 but I enjoy the wealth of information that is available and it might be a conservative choice but based on my first day of ownership I am very pleased that I decided to get one.
We all like to think we got a good deal, I have no idea what margins of profit Doble at Coulsdon have to work with especially on a discontinued model but I do know they gave me a good price for my scoot in p/ex (normally very poor unless at a SYM franchaise), they also included the 3rd year Honda guarantee and road assist together with Honda branded heated hand grips. The on the road price they quoted also included Datatag and Dobles are long established and I found them nice people to deal with. Other dealers I approached had the Silverwing at a cheaper price but with a lot less for the p/ex and no included extras, as always it comes down to the deal that suits you.
Looking forward to doing a few tours on the Silverwing in 2014- thanks again to all posted their views on the Silverwing.

Re: Silverwing test ride
Well done Ollie, enjoy your new ride. As you say the cheapest price is not always the best deal.
