There are several comparison sites around, just like for cars. As ever, you'll find a great deal with your insurance company in the first year, then next year, they'll jack the premiums up a lot!!

Back in the cold now, but enjoying the commute on the Pantheon. I got something cheap as an interim solution and while it's a very good scooter I think if I'd known a 125 would be this effective for the job I would probably have spent the extra on an S-Wing for the longer term.
Love the fact that it does 50 miles before the fuel gauge even thinks about moving off the full mark, but miss sitting a little further back from the screen and instruments, as on Burgman and Majesty before that.

I live in Banstead so not too far from you. My first bike was an XMAX 125 and I passed my test on that. It's quite a big scoot and has same chassis etc as the Xmax 250. Plenty of storage too and goes really well and fuel consumption is frugal. I haven't much Honda experience other than a PCX125 which I found quite pleasant and nippy as my first real ride after doing the CBT(hired for a couple of weeks). Don't personally don't like the front-on look of the Honda SH or S wing although they are very competent scoots and guys who own them love them. Not macho enough for me! Maybe see you around some time.

Hey Chris..that is near by...my first choice was always the x Max.. Just not quite got the funds for it...the front of the s wing does look a bit odd to me..but the overall performance looks good...I think the two are the best for a bigger man...will be taking the plunge on the s wing on Friday or Saturday...but will be checking the availability of the x Max right up to the last second

I know the s wing has a fuel capacity of 9.4 litres...so how much would it cost to fill up and how many miles could I get out of a full tank?

Riders using fuelly.com claim averages between 65-103 mpg so guess somewhere in the middle.

Doing the maths, if fuel is approx £1.30 a litre. Multiply that by 9.4 and you get £12.22. 1 gallon is 4.54 litres

To work it out for real, fill the tank, reset the trip counter (or make note of the current mileage), ride the bike until it's almost empty, re-fill, see how much fuel you put in, also check how many miles you've done.
If for instance you put 9 litres in, divide 9 by 4.54 to give you how many gallons you put in. Then divide the number of miles done by amount of fuel used in gallons and you get the
miles per gallon figure.
Repeat that a few times and you'll know how different types of riding affect your fuel consumption.

Only knowledge I have is Spannerman had one from new for about 9 months and would always achieve 100mpg plus, though clearly if you were stop/start commuting it might be hit.

As a ballpark I reckon you'll fill up a long way before empty (we all seem to) so likely spend £10 and get 175 mile range or so.
