I use it if I'm sitting on it and waiting for someone while on an incline. If I want to check messages on my phone, the bike will start rolling downhill, but with the brake it stays still. I put the side stand down and engage the parking brake. I suppose I could get off it to check for messages, but I'm a bit on the lazy side.

The Burgman had a Handbrake which I found very useful.Personally I think they are a good idea and I don,t see why we can,t have one on the uk bikes. We don,t all have blue tooth phones etc.
Anything that makes life easier, great.Good for the Yanks

I use my Burgman handbrake a lot - Waiting on an incline for whatever reason I can relax my hands and thighs for a bit. makes it more stable when parked on the side stand and hopefully makes it harder for passing scrotes to wheel it away.
I prefer the seperate hand operated brake.
The high screen looks good.

Parking brakes very useful - especially at traffic lights on a hill, as you don't have hold the brakes on with your hand. Also if you want to stop and fiddle with gloves, earplugs (or phone) etc, then you can stop, put the brake on and mess around to your hearts content, knowing that the scoot ain't going anywhere.
