I've had mine nearly 2 years now and I think that it's great. I wish I could have had it in New Zealand where I've been for the last 2 months visiting my daughter and enjoying the sunshine. (It's an official drought there now) Very few real scooters down there but quite a few titchy ones for the kids to get killed on instead of doing it in the car !!

I'm with you there (notably that dreadful place in Hawes), but Betty's emporiums are far too pricy for me to enjoy my food there!

I was at Glasson dock a couple of weeks ago and met three retired Buryites like me, a couple of days later i stopped at Slaidburn and the same group were there. I got on really well with them and we had a good ridearound. I made the mistake of giving them my phone number, and they keep asking me to go on runs with them, i can only put up with most people for a short time, and am running out of excuses not to join them. What would you do Meldrew?? :? As for that cafe in Hawes, i only ever stop for a cuppa, and maybe an eccles cake. I never eat in those places. I eat at home either before a ride or, after, that's why i don't care for joining others on rides.

I do like riding alone every now and again, when I was a Rospa observer I spent nearly 3 years following other riders having to watch their every move. Now I like riding in groups, you can still make good progress in a group ride, have a good laugh too, most of the others I ride with I consider good friends, so I suppose its a good social day out.
Im not a gynecologist, but I dont mind taking a look.

Chippie, i have been on two rideouts that you were on. The first there was only about 5 riders, i was behind you for some time, as you were leading. I thought you were an excellent rider and would gladly follow you again. The second one there were a lot more in the group (you were not leading). I do not go on a ride and spend time sitting in cafe whilst other people eat. I also do not like to be behind someone that has trouble keeping speed up on bends, and when i overtake they get upset, because somehow there is a "pecking order" that i don't know about but everyone else does. I hope you and your "Bunch" have many rides together, but it's not for me. If that makes me a miserable old sod so be it. I've been riding for over 50years and i don't want or need company, a nice chat at rest stops is enough for me. :)

I like going out on trad rides disorganized is an understatement never set off on time someone always wants petrol someone always breaks down or gets lost .After being an almost anal trip organizer it annoyed me at first but I just go along with what ever happens now .It took 3 hours once to do 15 miles .The only ride they asked me to lead I said full tanks please one turned up needed petrol of course one decided to check his oil 5 mins before set off and had to go home for some.I took guy for petrol others followed some stayed on car park as thought we were coming back .We stopped in layby for others to catch up .I said Ill go ahead film you going past .I filmed wrong group going past tagged onto them when I caught up realised it was wrong group but carried on anyway as we were all going to same meet.As I say it annoyed me at first but been going 2 years with them now so just go along with what ever .I usually have a little blast on my own on way home .

I'm with Meldrew and Sylar on this one.
Done a couple of group rides, with groucherino and with Waldorf and x9oc. Enjoyed both, well organised, sensible speeds etc, but me and Mrs B prefer to pick our own routes and times. If that makes me another miserable sod, fair do's, I can live with that. I bought the Wing to enjoy riding it - and that's what I do. This life can never be 'one size fits all', just enjoy what you choose to do, whether it's group rides or on your own - just ride safe!
As I grow older, my mind doesn't just wander......sometimes it buggers off completely!!
You can't avoid growing up, but you can be immature all your life!
