The magentic L plates on the car are the best as you can put them on and take them off easy.

Only if the car is made of ferric metal.
You'll have fun getting them to stick on aluminium or plastic.

Of course, plastic bodyshells weren't used on a 1985 Fiesta in my case!

From the BSM website

Get your 'L' plates
When you're learning, you'll need to put 'L' plates (or 'D' plates in Wales) on the front and back of your car – somewhere they can be seen easily. And you're only allowed to drive with someone who's passed their test, is over 21 and has been driving for three years or more.
Your 'L' plates also have to meet legal specification - so buy them rather trying to knock some up yourself. "
Whenever the car is driven by someone who’s passed, the plates need to come off or be covered up."

I got pulled for not having L plates a few weeks back. I turned around and asked the guy how big he thought my engine was - his answer was "all 125cc's need L plates, it's only 50cc's you can ride without". I explained that the Xevo was 400cc's and that I had a full bike license, at which point he asked to see my license...which I didn't have back from the DVLA yet. He "called it in" and was told that I don't have a license

Ruddy DVLA, it had been like 3 weeks at that point!
Luckily I had a scan of my test pass certificate on a server at home, I connected in and brought it up on my laptop and showed it to him and he let me go...

Really doesn't matter what the BSM website says, it's perfectly OK to display L plates if you are a full licence holder.
The
Highway Code says that when a full licence holder is driving, the L-plates
should be removed, crucially it does not say that they
must be removed.
As far as I can see,
the relevant legislation makes no mention of any offence of full licence holders displaying L-plates.
