I'm back on the scent.
The NIU has served me very well but I'm aware now of its short-comings and that it's going into a decline; new batteries will be necessary soon and there are plastic-coated bits which are suffering from the sea air - peeling, in other words.
I have only to travel 100 miles more on it to see 5000 come up on the clock.
I've looked at new NIUs but the similar model is more expensive than the Vision.
A top speed of 45 MPH has proved adequate but I think the extra 10 will be useful; there's far more luggage space, too.

I haven't yet made up my mind but I shall take a trip up to Newcastle Motorcycles in the New Year for serious discussions; I know I will get a fair deal there if I opt for the Vision.

I have reserved a Vision at Newcastle Motorcycles.
I went in today to buy the one that's in the showroom but, after discussion with Paul, the salesman, I am going to wait; apparently, there's a 2025 model on the way.
There are no details yet but as I want a white one and the one that's there is grey, it seemed the sensible thing to do.
I have two Shad topboxes - one 40ltrs and one 46ltrs - and the plate for both will bolt straight on.
I've asked him to supply and fit a screen.
He will also arrange the scrapping of the NIU; that's a relief!

I've changed my mine again!

I've given the whole matter a great deal of thought and decided to buy the Vision (grey) that is residing in Newcastle Motorcycles, the bike I referred to earlier.

I drove up this morning to see Paul and get the latest news of the 2025 model.
There isn't any!

On a previous visit, Paul said that, if I wished, they would keep the bike there until March so it can be registered when the new registrations for 2025 are released.

In the meantime, they will get a windscreen for me and fit the leg-shields I've ordered and which will go direct to them to fit.
I will also take up the mounting-plate for the SHAD boxes I already have as they will fit it, too.
In addition, when the Vision is delivered here on 4th. March, they will take away the NIU, dispose of it and do the paperwork.

Paul has given me 'a little bit off' so I'm very happy.

The Vision is grey and already has a name.

Thank you for reading my ramblings; I will endeavour tro post pictures in due course. :)

Hello Mike….a belated happy new year, hope you are well…..

I guess you’ll keep the 350 and use the vision for your pottering about town, lovely to live right by the sea, downside is for motorcycle/scooter owners is the increased speed of corrosion,i purchased a Burgman 400 from an owner in Eastbourne years ago, took the panels off to do some tinkering and was stunned by the corrosion and how it looked. Its only 4 weeks until March so that’ll soon go,are you going to get the trusty old optimate lead put on,trouble with waiting for 2025 model,is it could be the second half of 2025,is it a gloss grey.

Hello, Steve.
Thank you!
Happy New Year!
Yes; I am keeping the 350 and going to use the Vision locally. It's amazing how the mileage builds up just pottering around. I will just reach 5000 miles on the NIU before I part with it. It's been a reliable and enjoyable ride but the Vision is lighter, quicker and not expensive in terms of petrol consumption.
I think the Insurance will be less, too.
The Forza seems to be surviving the corrosion problem but time will tell. In truth I don't know for how much longer I will ride; I will be 76 in five months time and am monitoring my on-the-road competence very carefully.
Touch wood, I haven't had any prblems with the battery on the Forza but I don't latch the seat at home, just in case!
I use the NIU almost every day under normal circumstances so I'm hoping the Vision won't need charging in the yard.

The paint is gloss - Pearl Jupiter Gray. Link following.

One day we'll ride together again. I should enjoy that very much. There's good riding up here. ;)

Mike good to hear from you, keep on riding as long as long as possible. I took out a 2024 forza yesterday, waiting to see the 2025 one in metallic red with a 5'' screen and full connectivity before deciding to keep my NC750. I will be up north to see my brother soon and spend some time riding around the NE.
We need longer daylight hours and dry roads to make it happen.

Thanks, Dave; you, too.

I find the 350 more than adequate and much easier to manage as I get older!
Let me know if you're within range of sunny Seaham when you come North; it'd be good to see you again.
