I was simply letting you know of my experience as a SYM owner has been positive. You mentioned people advising you against SYM through their experiences, I merely thought i'd give you my (positive) experience of SYM. Your post made it sound as though you was unsure of SYM, so I thought my experience would help assure you about SYM's quality. Other SYM owners on here seem to be happy with there bikes as are those that have sold their SYMs. The only negatives i'm hearing about SYM are coming from non owners.

SYM aren't perfect, the service intervals are not as good as others, the manuals are basic and the UK importer isn't the best (slow to respond, incorrect info in brochures/website). But to say the actual product is crap is not at all fair or accurate....

To be fair, the above is crap!



But I'll be the first to put a deposit down on a bike/scoot that doesn't have its poor points.

I have read your posts Drago. You seem to have experiance of the Sym brand, well and good. As far as i can see SYM are trying to establish themselves in the UK, fair enough. I have been buying and riding Honda since the seventies, so i can say i trust thier reliability. My first scooter was a Burgman 400 that was 9years old and had 15,000mls up, bought in 2009 (November). I was so impressed with it that ( i still have it today with 26,000ml up) i bought my Silverwing, mainly because of my faith in Honda. My point is i trust Honda and Suzuki as established manufactures, Sym i dont know, so because of all the messing around just to get a demo ride on one my money will go on The Burgman 650 or another Silverwing 600.

Sym build Hyundai cars (i10, i20, i40), they used to produce cars for Honda (CRX, Civic, Prelude), so I reckon a scooter is well within their remit!

They produce scooters for Peugeot....

I have seen parts on the production line for Aprilia

So Kymco produce for Kawasaki and BMW...

Please unless you actually visit the factory do not be naive and shOrt sighted, these companies really ARE world class huge manufacturing plants that would shock you senseless!

They collectively produce in two weeks the equivalent of the whole UK market for one YEAR

No point you saying they are huge, as far as joe public is concerned Sym very definitely are an unknown quantity and will remain that way till you get a decent dealer network, better stock availability and more realistic pricing.

Surely there is point in telling us there size and abilities, as we can pass it on to joe public!! Yes I know not a lot of people haven't heard of SYM, I get it all the time at work, but these are people that are not interested in Scooters. Yes better advertising would help! I don't see where the more realistic pricing comes from? I think they are very well priced for there quality, equipment and warranty!!

£6000 for my Maxsym 600 with a three year warranty I would say was realistic pricing. I do like the Burg 650 but it's £3k more

Buy a new victory and get a 5 year warranty . buy a kia and get 7 year warranty pay 10k or 6k for a new scoot someone will always get a s--t one or have a bad experience with a dealer , either way a bad experience is just that and will probably sour that customer in the future . Times move on and things tend to improve so a new sym should be better and on par with pretty much else on the market today and imho will be far far better value for money . £5499, and a sym roadshow to promote the brand would be a winner . The price is achievable if moto gb do it the old way by buying bulk cheap and pushing them out the door . jmho

Price of Sym is very competitive in my book. Can't see why people think otherwise especially when you see the quality of the product. I'd rather have a Maxsym 600i than a Silverwing anyday, more modern styling, better brakes, ABS, better power to weight ratio, CHEAPER PRICE!!... etc etc and 3 year warranty. Engine is well tried and tested and has no problems known to man. Very robust. No offence to Silverwing owners, superb bike it was and still is, but not up to modern standards now in my honest opinion. Looks more dated, now not as modern looking as even my long in the tooth Burgman 400 which at least has double discs up front with it's abs. Looks are all a matter of opinion of course. Talking about the UK version concerning the Silverwing.
