They do vary to be honest. Some are okay - many are not. I've been fast (VFR800), been slow (Vivacity Compact 50 - great fun and teaches "energy conservation"). These days "Bod" (J300) does everything I need it to and in surprising comfort too.
I do like to slot the J300 into a gap between two sports bikes at Matlock Bath when I can...

Reminds me when I got the VFR - a bloke with a Ducati Monster looked at it and then pointed to my tires "they're sh*t" he said without a moments hesitation. I was a bit surprised at that. Also once when I was on the 883 Harley I nodded to a sportsbike coming the other way and he actually shook his head "NO" at me - strange.

I'm sure I could be every bit as much of a t**t if I had 100bhp as if I had 180bhp.....

Me and her indoors were in Eyam sat having a cuppa a few years ago. A couple of bikers came and sat at the next table and one said to the other ''did you see me do that wheelie, did you see it'' etc etc. We smiled at each other knowing we were in the presence of greatness.

A "god" at Matlock was once telling those present in his greatness how, when racing another bike they'd had a coming together (elbows) and he was physically dragged off his bike and taken for several hundred yards by the other god's footpeg. At one point (apparently) they made eye contact but the other bloke simply ignored his pained expression and wound the throttle fully open in a "f**k you" moment of pure pleasure...

There's this wanker I see every Saturday, rides a gixxer, everytime I see him its "wheres ya little Chinese scooter/monkeybike" even though in his knowledge my Husqvarna nuda 900 was Chinese, then I get the "get a proper bike" speech which one day, and I have said, if ya dont feck off am gonna lamp ya you arsehole, he finds it amusing, al have my day, I usually then embarrass him after reminding him that his mate told me he was beaten down from hartside pass by a bloke on a mountain bike and he was on said gixxer lol, he can wear all the Suzuki fleeces he likes, the cockwit cant go round corners, wish I had my tmax still, I would truly shut him up!

Perhaps that's the same bloke on a Gixxer who seriously got in my way going over the Kirkstone pass! Went round every corner at 5mph than twisted the throttle hard on each straight so I couldn't pass him. In the end I did a racing block pass on him coming into a right hand bend - squeezed myself between him and the centre line and went right across his front to block him from out accelerating me!

There again...on cycle races, on steep downhill sections, the cyclists can out corner the accompanying motorbikes! And they aren't wearing leathers if they get it wrong when they're going anything up to 70mph!

I can't be arsed with the snobbish arrogant bellends tbh, don't nod to any of them now unless they do so first (which isn't very often especially the closer you get to Alston), I use to nod to all those on any form 2 wheel MT(sprog rider or born again's, even coppers when I was in a good mood ;-) ) when I had a gsxr 750, sv650s but as soon as I got the 400 it was like I was a leper. If I see a scooter looking broken down (mod or auto)I usually stop n ask if they need any help, the geared lot I don't bother because of the majorities behaviour towards us scooter riders.I find the miserable fecks on bling'd up be-tassled harley cruising types the most unfriendly arrogant bunch when it comes to our geared brethren.

VIVA le scooter! ;-)

WOW when I posted this I didn't realise that it would get such a response. Reason I started it was that is I had an altercation with a wanker on a Ducati Monster who i'd seen at the very popular Poole bike night who was in a shopping centre car park but decided that the designated bike spaces were beneath him and decided that the pedestrian walkway was better. I pointed out his error to him and he turned his back on me and walked away saying nothing....(At this point I have to disclose my Rough and Ready traditional East London upbringing) .... Lets just say that I came out on top following the altercation.... I'm not proud of it but don't be an ignorant bas*tard just because you have a fast bike and I have a scooter. Thanks for the input, it won't stop me liking bikes and scooters just some of the idiots who ride them.

The problem with sports bikes on the road is:

1) Too slow pulling away in traffic (+ faffing for neutral at lights)
2) Wet feet. Yes, in the UK it rains.
3) Poor weather protection (although most OEM scooter screens are rubbish too)
4) No storage for when you get there
5) Cost more than a car to run - which puts a damper on things, especially as much of that is tax/duty.

The big wheels and good suspension of some are great for rough roads, but scooters can be comfy too. My Joyride's ride is pretty firm and the pillion feels every pebble, but the GTS is comfortable, as are more Piaggios I believe.

Anyway here is the J300 out-dragging a GSXR: http://www.visordown.com/road-tests/kaw ... 24858.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So next time a biker asks why you don't get a real bike, tell them it's because they are too slow.
