My Sat250 renewal (worth about £1500) was quoted at £99 and the Kymasaki was suggested at about £130, which I was pretty pleased with.

I'll certainly do a review once I get it. I'll also try and come along to a meet-up to show it off let people have a look-see.

Glad to be of help they are a good company and if you take out other policies you get a discount. Don't just accept the auto renewal call them to make sure you are the right policy, just got £68 knocked off my car policy.

They don't cost much so I thought I would leave it in and get a new one for the 600. Want to see how it performed without first

Regarding the Kymco downtown 300i this is what I think.....
I was originally looking around for a Honda Silver Wing when I first came across the Kymco Downtown 300i. It was sat in a local dealers and only had 518 miles on the clock as the original owner had bought it to carry on the back of his camper van, but it is quite a large scooter and he could not manage to get it on and off by himself. I immediately noticed the superb build quality and found it hard to believe that it was not made by one of the leading Japanese manufactures. The quality of the plastics is second to none and they all fit perfectly and it even comes with braided brake hoses as standard. Having a short inside leg of 29 ½” I found it to be a very good fit and could easily place both feet on the ground, and the seat is very comfortable for both the driver and the passenger. I could imagine that if you are six foot or over that this scooter would just not suite you, I think you would be a little cramped. I have found that the handling is very good, sharp and quick, even when two up with the wife, and neither of us are light weights we tend to like our meat pies. The engine seems smooth, quiet and powerful for 300cc, more so I would say than the Vespa GTS 300 I have previously owned. It seems a lot quicker on acceleration and the fuel economy is excellent. I cannot be exact at the moment but I reckon that I am getting at least 70mpg and that is even giving it a handful occasionally. There are adjustable brake levers as standard and a front and rear disc to bring you to a stop in good time one up, with their only being a single disc at the front I tend two allow a bit more time for stopping when two up, this is the only thing I would be judgemental about on the scooter. I have heard some people comment on the size of the storage under the seat but I find it more than ample, depends on the size of your helmets as to whether you can get two full faced ones in or not, and the small glove box at the front also contains a 12volt socket for charging phones or sat navs. I was a bit weary at first about buying the scooter as I had not really heard of the Kymco brand before but having done a lot of reading since buying the scooter it seems they are one of the top manufacturers of scooters and have an excellent reputation, so much so that Kawasaki have even modified this model to produce the J300…what more can you say…

Thanks Gromet, very informative. I did wonder about leg room.I also like to go 'feet forward' on long journeys so that is also a problem I guess.
