Yeah the Kymco is an option that I would concider if I do cancel the Joymax, only down side is the limited space under the seat, but what I've read it looks all good, and the fact that you have mentioned that their back up and service is good, that is definately a plus point. And also that the Kymco dealer is actually very local. Will wait and see what happens Thursday regarding my replacement parts.Globs wrote:A familiar story I am afraid, and one that happened to me so I know it's not just rumour. I have decided not to buy another SYM while MotoGB are their distributors.
So I stopped chasing the Joymax 300 and ordered the superior Piaggio X10-350 executive instead.
If you have a nearby Bennetts then you may be fine, if not, frankly 'Good Luck'.
BTW the 2014 Xciting 400 frankly looks better than the Joymax 300:

and you can actually get parts for Kymco, very well respected for backup and service.

Re: 600 on its way
Not sure if it was my post that inspired the email. To be honest SYM UK did apologise and gave a very good account of the parts issues. What really gets to me is when the dealer phones motoGB to ask what is happening half of there staff don't know whats going on. And those that do give different delivery dates that they fail to meet. Would just like an honest answer.

Good to hear that you got some fine words about your parts. Other, boring distributors just send out the parts in the first place - but where is the fun and drama in that eh?

Or in the case of Piaggio and BMW nothing at all, use of Google will show that many if not all manufactures have supply problems and issues. None keep vast amounts of spares in stock it would just not be financially viable. Some years ago I had to wait several weeks for a replacement gearbox for my VW Golf whilst a friend of mine needing an electrical component for his BMW bike was told there was none in the UK and it was being ordered from Germany.Globs wrote:Good to hear that you got some fine words about your parts. Exciting Mister Spaceprobe! I'm looking forward to your adventure! Can I have pretty pictures too please!
As Spaceprobe has already suggested that's not a problem unique to SYM!
I may not be the sharpest tool in the box but something's telling me you feel betrayed by SYM and/or MotoGB. C'mon fella, tell Uncle Anon, what happened? Let it out...

Re: 600 on its way
Yeah true. A few years ago I came off my Burgman 400. And the insurance company collected it from Aberdeen and took it to the London area. Only broken panels. And it was nearly 3 months before I saw it again. The repair shop said it was supply issues from Suzuki that was the hold up. I just wish motoGB were honest in there expected delivery and then I would just accept it. And not promise different dates every time they are contacted.

I'm sorry, but comparing BMW service to MotoGB is laughable and destroys your argument right there and then!?!?! What are you thinking?spaceprobe wrote:Or in the case of Piaggio and BMW nothing at all, use of Google will show that many if not all manufactures have supply problems and issues. Piaggio is taking spare supply issues seriously enough to rebuild it's entire spares distribution network. Buying a Piaggio is a gamble for parts yes, and if I run into the type of problems I have with SYM then I'll move to a Xciting 400. But at least with Piaggio I have local dealers, online exploded parts diagrams and a good supply of parts appear to be available online too.
Kymco don't have any supply issues. Neither do many others. Yet a quick Google of 'MotoGB problems' reveals my experience of issues with getting parts has gone on for many years. How on earth are they going to support the new 600 is they can't even source panels for an old GTS Voyager?? I mean seriously - what am I missing here.
I must however correct a statement a made earlier when I said that I will avoid SYM while MotoGB is their distributor. I meant to say that I will avoid any make they exclusively distribute - just to make my hard learned position clear. I wish you the best of luck with your 600 and trust you already live in the midlands and therefore have a dealer nearby to fight your corner. BTW this guy spent 4 months chasing them for mere lights on the newish Joymax!!! http://symjoymax125.blogspot.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: 600 on its way
Globs I am just trying to make the point that these problems can come up with all manufactures. I have been critical of SYM in the past but they do seem to be trying to get their act together and there seems to be a real commitment from them to reach out, Steve does try and gets shot down an awful lot on here. I guess I am not going to convince you but here in Sussex we have one appalling Piaggio dealer who I would not wish to use and we can all post owner horror stories and would suggest you read this one. http://maxi-scoots.com/scoot/index.php?topic=4159.0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
