Re: About to buy a Burger 400
Started stripping her down today!
Rear handbrake seized at caliper, tried to free it but it snapped off, doh.
Caliper pins won't undo, started to round off.
Looks like I need a new rear brake caliper complete. Tried eBay but no joy.
Also after a new speedo sensor as the old one doesn't work. I checked the rotor but it is fine. The cheapest I can find is £140 from AJ Suttons.
I have a LeoVince pipe on order as the Motad self destructed by the time I had ridden home.
Wheels are off and having new tyres fitted, along with new discs and pads.
Going to give her a full service, so where does everyone get their service parts from?
Suzuki V belt is £130 (gulp), and I thought Italian parts were expensive.
Looks like my cheap runaround is turning into a big project!

Re: About to buy a Burger 400
Thanks for the link Julian, I've ordered the Mitsuboshi belt. Wonder how long it will take to get from Italy, the last time I ordered anything from there it took 2 months! lol.
The parking brake part has broken off in the caliper, so I can't see it being repairable (thank you for the offer of trying to get the pins out Lyn). I've tried a few local breakers & eBay but there is nothing about. Does it need to have the parking brake working for the MOT? If so I could be off the road for quite a while.
The front caliper is now off and that is in just as bad a condition as the rear one. Pads are nearly on the metal!
Still can't find a cheap speedo sensor/cable and £140 is way too much to pay!
Maybe going Japanese wasn't such a good idea.

Not if you remove the entire system.ChevySoul wrote:Does it need to have the parking brake working for the MOT?
A parking brake is not a requirement but if fitted it must be working.
Re: About to buy a Burger 400
Thats what I was told if its fitted has to work whether they test it is another thing .Its worth a shot take cable and lever out might be worth asking cheeky Tom .The sensor is usually the rotor inside check its intact and has little tabs still on .I think its worth doing up may take time to get salvage parts or may be worth buying a spares scoot complete in long run .A non runner burgman sold for £470 on ebay and engines sell for £400 so cant loose at what you paid really .Theres one for sale with 65K on clock still running so they will do the miles .Thing is its not been made since 2002 although some parts off up to K6 (twin head light injection 385 cc one)model should fit some parts off 250 cc one fit as well.Might be worth trawling thro German/Itatian ebay Ive had parts off there even if they say dont ship to uk Ive asked and they have changed settings and brought stuff off them just use simple English.I dont think you need speedo for MOT either

Re: About to buy a Burger 400
I've checked the sensor and the rotor is fine, all intact. I will give it a few weeks to see if I can locate a secondhand one, then I may have to bite the bullet and buy new from AJ Suttons.
As the rear caliper has had it, I will see if I can find one with a working parking brake part. This would solve that problem.
Are the panels for the 400 the same as the 250? as I need to replace a few and there are more 250 panels on eBay than 400's.
The LeoVince GranTurismo exhaust has arrived and has included with it a set of rollers. Strangely there are only 6 rollers in the pack and they are too big to fit the variator anyway. My variator has 8 rollers, so what rollers should I be putting in (standard or aftermarket)?
The more I take apart this scoot, the more problems I am finding! Lol.

Re: About to buy a Burger 400
The 250 had 6 rollers 400 has 8 Im pretty sure 250 chassis is same as 400 (400 may be strengthened in places )so panels should fit .I think 400 standard is 21gram 18's should liven it up on take off mine bogs down a bit at first till it gets going was always a problem when they came out people used to fit mallossi .Id go for 18 gram dr pulley sliding rollers thats what I will fit if I keep mine just file sharp edges of ramp plate to stop it ripping them
