Re: New scoot! SH300!
One thing I've noticed is teh fan is on a lot, even after an A road blast. Maybe coincidental but I folllowed another sh300 in today and his fan was on too. Is that normal for these? A quick look shows me it has the rad in teh same crud catching position a Tmax does so it may well be there just isnt enough airflow getting though?

Re: New scoot! SH300!
Well a few months and 6000 miles later and I can say this little scoot has really won me over. I am just so impressed by it. I use it for my 60 mile round trip which is commuting into London each day. It sits happily at 70-80 mph day after day and in town its very agile and the 300cc motor punches it in and out of gaps and away from the nights nicely. MPG is any where between 70 - 80 mpg. Never uses a drop of oil or water either. I'll always miss a bigger scoot and/or bike but the SH300 does the commute so well and I cant see me getting rid of it any time soon. I can see why so many people rave about them.

I hope that Honda don't withdraw their premier ranges from the UK and leave us with only the cheaper options.
That would be very sad

No mate, it was as good as gold and a cracking little bike. But it was only ever a stop gap whilst I was trying to sort the broken Nexus out. I felt a bit cruel riding it up and down the A13 and it was working it too hard, so I made the decision to let it go and sold the Nexus for spares or repair and picked up the SH300 which was a good bridge between them both.
The SH300 is indeed a superb commuter. You can chuck it around like the Liberty and has a short enough wheel base to nip in and out of the gaps in traffic but will still hit 90mph and return 75+mpg overall. Although the mpg has dropped a bit with the Dr Pulleys but i'll happily allow that, I think.
I got my 70 year old Father-in-law to admit his Tmax was too big and heavy for him and we sold that and got him a Sh300. I've never known him to use a bike so much. He love dhis Tmax to bits and I did wonder if he'd adapt to the SH but he has. He doesnt feel compromised on it around town and says it has more than enough power for what he wants and is light enough to bump up and down kerbs without thinking etc. He also says it more than has the legs to do a long distance journey on and I think is hinting at a run over to Normandy on the scoots.
A Tmax will always be my favourite scoot but the SH ticks more boxes for me as a commuter at present. I've no doubt it will go at some point and normally I'm always considering my next bike but strangely I'm not at present?

I hear what you are saying, but for me the SH, whilst it was wonderfully mental, lacked comfort in most respects (and had little luggage space). So for me, the Forza looks like a better option, with roughly similar performance but with more comfort and space (once you've fitted the higher screen anyway). Which reminds me that the early SH300s didn't have a screen as standard at all! Mine had a little fly screen and even with that it was freezing cold! I bought a higher screen which improved things a bit.
There again, the Piaggio Bev ST is a similar idea to the SH300, equally small, but with more comfort, more luggage space and even more grunt! (More servicing bills as well probably, but you can't have everything!).

Re: New scoot! SH300!
My one came without a screen from new. When I took it up above 50mph it felt like someone was trying to push me off the bike! Didn't like that at all and got a screen for it within days. I now have the Givi Airflow. Great protection in winter and you can remove the top half in summer.
Like Taipan, I use mine for the regular commute along the A13 and it comes into its own from Ferry lane until I turn off at Prince Regent Lane. Traffic jams are no bother whatsoever. Before I got my 650 Burg I even considered using it for a European trip to the South of France. Maybe that would have been expecting a bit too much.
Not the prettiest of bikes and lacking in storage space but for commuting it's perfect with its short wheelbase, large wheels and ABS. Not top of the list as a nickable scoot by chav's either so it can be left anywhere.
