The UK figure for BMW scooters sold is in the 100's. Way over 5 or 6,000 for Europe as a whole.
Still rare, expensive and exclusive ;)

As others have said, get onto BMW, they should be falling over themselves to get it fixed. I'd be polite at this stage just in case there is some ...errr... "pilot error" involved - been there, done that :oops:

If it is any use - I think it is a good idea to let the self test and boot up complete properly before hitting the starter ie. allow a second or two between turning on the ignition and hitting the starter. It can cause rough running and stalling if the electric fairies don't get a chance to wake up and do whatever it is that they do.

Good advice thanks

I filled an almost empty tank with Shell, the standard stuff not the expensive stuff and it has transformed the bike. It is significantly smoother, far less juddery on and off the throttle, ticks over like a dream and is altogether more pleasant to ride. I get a similar result when I fill my diesel car up with Shell also.
Hopefully with Shell Diesel though! I never notice any difference between petrols....isn't this what computerised Fuel injection and engine management systems are supposed to take care of automatically???? Or is your Maj an old version with carbs?

have a look on the webbikeworld website - the guy there is running a blog on a C650 and a few owners have reported stalling issues

http://www.webbikeworld.com/bmw-c-650-g ... roblem.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Been trying BP super unleaded in my C650GT for the last 4 fills, haven't experienced this, doesn't really seem to have made any difference to mpg either so will probably switch back to regular.

My seat catch is ok, but had 2 different loan 650s and on one the seat lock was problematic, although it felt like the problem was with the seat being too loose and moving around trying to close it rather than the lock itself

Hope you get it sorted

i was told a few years back when i took my gs 1200 in for its first service. i told them prior to taking it in that it had cut out a few times .... no idea how true this is but i was told it would be cured at its first service.. and it was down to bmw setting the bike up to get it past emission laws on new bikes .. and that it would be remapped at its first service which it was and it cured it ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, i wonder if its the same kinda thing

Mr Grumpy,
It's a 2012 Maj bought new, just under 2000 miles on it and I know what you mean, there really shouldn't be a difference. I am wondering if I've imagined the difference but it's been 5 days of commuting, you know, stop, start, etc etc and it definitely feels better. Next time I'll stick supermarket fuel in for comparison just to check! I often peruse Honest John's web site and he talks a lot about using Shell fuel which is why I stuck a tank full in the Antara, again a new car bought last year, and it runs smoother and quieter with it. I am convinced!

The supermarket vs branded fuel question doesn't have a simple answer.
It is simply not possible to say that one is better than the other.
The reason for this is that it depends on where the fuel comes from (huge variation) and what vehicle you use them in (huge variation).

Wow! Reading that its like being on the F800 forum! The F series had lots of similar problems with fuel pumps and Idle Actuator Control Valves. BMW eventually addressed the issue, well to some degree anyway, by releasing a software update for the ECU, after trying preformed hoses for the IACV and replacing fuel pumps. Lots of F800 riders are still plagued by the problem though and the continuing problem was the reason I sold mine. I too was doing weekly TPS resets but the problem never went away and drove me mad in the end. Lets hope BMW actually recognise and acknowledge the problem and actually sort this out and not go through their normal shameful approach of "what problem"? :roll: Keep us updated please as I'm interested to see what BMW do.

Being serviced and a new ECU was needed as it would not take an update (relating to the display/ MPG AV Speed readout ) Will see how it goes after a service , funnily its been behaving from the stall point of view but the gear change can vary in its eagerness !
