True, but the Vespa is a victim of its own design and history. (BTW - the Vespa 946 will be 9000euros when it hits the street in France).

I would say the difference between Vespas and other small scooters to the larger types is that the latter are often aimed more at longer distance, more open-road than the typical urban commute that 50 and 125 bikes are intended for. So I think it entirely reasonable for a Burger to have a decent screen.

No, but the Forza is designed to have a reasonable amount of power sufficient to travel decent distances on major roads, even M-way type roads. To do this in comfort, especially in anything less than an Italian summer, requires something to deflect the wind a bit.
Little Vespas are confined mostly to town...so a screen is less eseential. Though of course, the whole issue is even odder as Italians seem to love putting outrageously high accessory screens on that must be a nightmare at night or in the rain! Since Italy is the prime scooter market, and their preference for high screens, it seems odd that manufacturers don't pander to them. Or maybe they reason that the buyers will put on screens so appallingly high to be dangerous anyway, so you might as well make a bit of extra profit selling them as accessories........

I'd say a screen is an essential part of a maxi scooter and pcx/Vespa aren't maxis (and I suspect Data et al are saying the same).

Perhaps not.
I think the Forza is pitched at the same slot in the scooter ecosystem as the Xmax 250.
i.e. predominantly urban with some extra urban capability.
Whather that's a "maxi" or not is down to naming conventions, and which pidgeonhole you choose to slot things into.

Yeah...what Bluebottle says! I didn't make the distinction gn2, sorry. Vespa's are in the minority without a screen these days I'd say and as others are saying are perhaps not the immediate choice of longer distances unless you are the hardy type or fit an aftermarket screen. I had the maxi's in mind which can tackle those bigger journeys or commute shorter trips too, but where the comfort afforded by a screen is worth it's weight in gold. If you see what I mean...

Screens and scooter size all down to personal preference.
I like the Forza styling with its low screen but I'm just weird.

Fair comment, x-max, runner, pcx, all urban , and maxi is more touring. Aftermarket screens will be available soon for the forza, so a small screen wouldnt put me off. Although im still kicking myself for selling me s-wing.

I prefer no screen on my Citycom. The Scoot is far more fun and flickable to ride without it, except when I go over 60mph for any distance. At 85mph without a screen I'm 'hanging' on and I suspect the 300cc Forza with it's token 'windscreen' will be similar.

The Forza is in the same 'class' as a Citycom. It's a 300cc Scoot that's capable, but not suitable for sustained 70+mph distances.
