Re: More burger woes
I got my bike back Wednesday morning. Runs great now. So it must have been that belt all along. Total cost to me £270.10p for belt & 2 hours work cleaning oil filters, transmission etc.
Road up from Leicester to Newcastle yesterday and i got about 40 miles from Newcastle when my oil change light came on. had to pull into nearest garage. checks dipstick, bone dry. digs phone out and has a right 'ol time googling what type of oil i need. finally get the right one, sticks a whole bottle in, and light is still on.
So now i need to find a Suzuki place on westgate road Newcastle, and explain to them what is going on

The Change Oil display warning will just need resetting.Flanker37 wrote:I got my bike back Wednesday morning. Runs great now. So it must have been that belt all along. Total cost to me £270.10p for belt & 2 hours work cleaning oil filters, transmission etc.

Turn ignition off
Press and hold the Sel button and at the same time turn the ignition on.
The Change Oil display will flash 3 times then go off.
Job done.
If you still need them, M&S are the Suzuki dealers on Westgate hill, but their workshop for all brands is now behind their main Ducati\KTM showroom at the bottom of the hill and not at the Suzuki showroom at the top of the hill.
I'm in Newcastle if you want to meet up any time and I'm also nearly always on the hill every Saturday.

Re: More burger woes
Thinking about this, as the oil was very hot from motorway riding it maybe would not show on the dip stick as it needs a bit of time to completely return to the sump?
Therefore by pure coincidense the Oil Change warning light came on because the service mileage counter reached its total (and not reset after the service) and not needing any oil? So could it now be overfilled?

Re: More burger woes
I'm with you Bornagain. I reckon it's overfull now! As Flanker said, it was running great. It wouldn't do that if it was emptying all it's oil out or burning it off to the extent it was empty at the garage. I think the engine would have told him much earlier if it needed oil, often with a big bang! Flankers, you need to follow the Suzuki method for checking the oil on level ground, and do it as per the book. You might get a shock!
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Re: More burger woes
Well I've made it back home to Leicester without any trouble. Oil light is still on though, the reset didn't work. Only got a fee days before I can take it back to Suzuki. Good news is though, that dodgy belt has been the cause of all my troubles. Including the bad fuel economy. I got all the way to Newcastle with the needle in the red to the left. Another 3 weeks & I'll be doing it all over again

Re: More burger woes
I think the oil change light reset procedure is different on the earlier models. Need to check your owners manual if you have one or look it up online. Glad you got home ok. Do make sure your oil level is not too high as that can be very harmful to the engine.

Apparently with the older models you press the ADJ button for the above procedure.bornagainbiker wrote:
