Your opinion is wrong and there's no way your servicing costs are anywhere near is low as mine on the Xevo at the same milage.

Well what would you compare it with, a boat, a supermarket, a skateboard??
If you're comparing it to other bikes then it loses out as it's less powerful than most of them and has shitty mpg, the op might as well keep his sports bikes.
And if you're comparing it to other scooters then it's only advantage is speed.
The TMax is better handling and has more storage and leg room (and better build quality), the Burgman 650 and Silverwing both have better storage and weather protection and leg room and do the same or better mpg.
The GP800 is a flop, it's such a shame the Piaggio group didn't invest more R&D to refine the engine and stick it in a tourer - the X10 850 would have been great.

I don't think it's crap, if you want a toy and don't ride much then it's fine. It is a sales (and imo design) flop though and the Aprilia SRV will go the same way.
As for handling, you are right, I am only basing that on reviews as when I sat on the GP800 is was far too small for me to want to ride it. I sat on the TMax and it felt like it had more room to me. There aren't many people out there that have owned every scooter in the world.
I have been to a few dealers who have far more experience with the GP800 than you (as you have only owned one) and they have all warned me off it, mainly for the silly servicing costs if you do any decent milage, even the dealer with one to sell in mint condition!!!
Apart from speed, tell me of the other advantages of the GP800 then because I can't see any???
And the GP800 isn't even stylish - you'll look like a cock on any scooter to joe public, that's generally not why people ride maxi scoots though.

What's actually wrong with the GP800.
The mirrors - too small and in the wrong place.
The speedo - MPH markings are illegible, but it doesn't matter as it's staggeringly innacurate
It has a chain.

First I would like to thank Terry for meeting with me earlier today and letting me have a test ride on his GP800. (My 2nd ever ride on a twist and go).
I am 6'3" tall and found plenty of room on the machine, the seat was comfy.
It handled and rode over the potholes well.
It had a topbox and space under the seat for a hat.
Very easy to ride with plenty of extra voom available on demand.
The screen lacked the wind protection I am after (due to my height).
I am still convinced a maxi scoot is the answer to my commuting desires.
Burgman 400 / 650, Yamaha Tmax / Majesty or Silverwing?
I commute 50 miles each way on the A3 (dual carriageway), so it needs to maintain 60/70mph, be economical, reliable and offer good protection from the elements.
