top man! that will make life much easier, i didn't think about undoing the seat, because its so new. is that the top, or the bottom of the strut, fella?
i've not seen her since sunday, locked away in the garage... i shall have a fiddle this weekend!

Barry,
From memory I believe it was the top one. Unfortunately mine is in having its 4000 mile service today so I can't even go and check it now for you in the garage. However, when I collect it tomorrow, I will have a look to refresh my memory and let you know.

Barry,
It is the top part (i.e the part attached to the seat) of the hydraulic stay that you pull out the 'R' type circlip from. Don't loose the washer! Also, when disconnecting the terminals from the battery remove the negative (black) first then the positive (red). When refitting the reverse applies i.e positive first then negative.

cheers for that roadrunner! i'm all done,,, and i wouldn't of thought of looking for that clip under the seat... it's a way up, and you'd have to make a point of looking for it. once i'd gotten the clip off, i found that if you spin the gas strut around, you can use th angled end to prop up the edge of the seat. no need for a piece of wood! this made fitting the cable a sinch, although those terminal bolts were really locked solid.
