Another UPDATE.....

So this evening i did the following to the moped -

Check Spark Plug and spark - ALL GOOD
Check Fuel Pump - ALL GOOD
Check Kick Stand switch - ALL GOOD

Basically, i have checked everything on the bike that i can. The next thing would be to have a look inside the engine to see if there are any issues there.

Not sure where to look next?

Next stage would be to do as @roadster suggested and to check the timing. It won't be a bad idea to do this anyway as you seem to have access to the engine at this stage.

To be absolutely clear we are referring to a 4-stroke version not the much earlier two stroke engine. If you look at this Ebay item https://ebay.us/m/PMku96 it shows the alternator windings and includes the pick up for the ignition. I'm not suggesting that you need to buy this but locating it on the engine will allow you to check that the rotor, which sits in the centre of the windings, is secure and timed correctly. Because the belt drive is on the left hand side it usually means that the alternator is on the opposite end of the crankshaft. Access may require draining oil and water before removing the right hand side cover. Please note I do not have any specific knowledge of this engine so my comments are no more than hints!

I think that Haynes have another manual covering the FES but I've no idea what year your bike is. Easy enough for you to find.

Yes i have had a look and the moped is a 4 stroke engine and the date is from 2006 model.

I will have a look on ebay to find a repair manual that will help me fix this bike.

Thank you

Todays UPDATE.

I managed to get hold of the Haynes Repair Manual today.

I managed to check the fault codes on the moped and the error code was (one log dash, 2 short dashes on the dashboard) 12.
In the book that referes to Faulty Injector or wiring.

The injector resistance was 12.7 ohms.

Can these injectors be cleaned like you can on a car as this one is attached to the fuel hose?

Thanks
