Not a bad day today, 9 degrees on the display so I managed a 25 mile quick ride out around Birsay Moors. A bit windy, no rain but some mucky roads. Anyway, the Puig screen is a noticeable improvement over the original Honda offering even with the X-Creen extension and home made side flaps. In the fully up position, I'm looking through it as suspected but that might be a benefit when it's hammering down with rain, although I think I will normally stop short of that position. My simple wind deflection test involved placing my left hand behind the screen and slowly moving it out to the left until I felt the wind. This occurred about 3 inches further out when compared with the original, probably due to the fluted design. With the more complicated shape of this new screen it is also more rigid than the Honda one. I would not go back to the original!

Orcadian - The extra width is an improvement. That's what she said.

Orcadian, I have a large Puig screen on my Forza, like the one you now have. It came on the bike and I don't have a standard screen to compare it with. However, I have ridden a standard screened 300 and found it a bit too short, whereas the Puig now is plenty tall enough (I am 5'8") though I sometimes fancy a bit of extra width! Your, erm, "ears" might be a perfect solution.

Hi Rew,
I'm not sure that the 'ears' I made will fit the Puig screen because of the fluted design - I'm sure I could make a pair with the same contour, only a bit of heat and a wooden former would be needed to shape them. The longest part of the manufacture was turning and threading the alloy clamping buttons but I have made those now. If you were sure you definitely wanted them, you could use small stainless bolts and Nyloc nuts after drilling the screen - I was avoiding that in case I didn't like them. Wonder if Puig would make them?
I suppose I have been spoilt all these 30 odd years with GoldWings - it was on our 1988 1200 Aspencade that I first had these O/E side extensions and I once took them off to see if they were just a gimmick - they definitely weren't!
Ian

As an aside - don't use Loctite near plastics - I fitted a mudguard extender to my CBF600 and in the absence of small stainless locknuts at the time, I 'Loctited' the bolts. Two days later, there were bits of mudguard scattered near the bike - it had 'exploded' around the bolts! A £100 lesson learned.

In the interest of discussion....for my Forza 350 I've mounted the GIVI Model D1187ST. My initial thought was..it's a bit big for the Forza...but after a day or so I got used to seeing it and it's not a thing now. It was an easy fit and I've enjoyed the extra wind-break it provides. I will say that on warmer days I notice the wind restriction at its best and even at the lowest level I find I could use a little more air flow. It was a good add to the Forza and I look forward to testing its full capability on some long tours when the weather breaks.

Yep Mack, that’s the one I fitted to mine early on in my ownership (2yrs 6m).
I’ve done a few thousand miles in all weathers and it’s been an ideal replacement. You’ll be pleased with it, enjoy!

Stibbs, thanks for sharing and the vote of confidence...happy to see another Forza 350 owner doing the same upgrade.
