Overall I found it a great pleasure to ride with the mirror and screen improvements already suggested and attention to the vulnerability of the underside of the fuse box. The traction control was also a bit intrusive at times, especially on bumpy roads, but it did extend rear tyre lifetime by almost subconsciously changing my riding behaviour. As with all modern machines there is a reliance on electronics. They are usually reliable but if anything does go wrong it can be a headache to find the expertise if you don't posses it yourself.

roadster, thanks for that I've got my eye on another one, but this time of year its difficult to find the time to get to see them. Particulary when it's a three to four hour round trip.

I had a go on two scooters last week a Burgman 650 and a Maxsym 600, I bought the Burgman and picked it up last friday. It's a 12 plate in grey with 15000 miles on the clock, it appears to have been very well looked after. Haven't had the chance to ride it much apart from the thirty mile motorway trip home and a coupe of shopping trips this morning, but liking it so far. A bit nervous this morning riding it over damp tram tracks, they can be very slippery.
The masym was a nice bike newer than the Burgman with very low miles and cheaper, but I wasn't so keen, not very smooth on the take off but okay when you get going. It was a sunny day and I found the dashboard very hard to see and the speedo is in kilometers which didn't help.

Congrats! The Burger has a twin cylinder engine, whilst the Sym is (I think!) a single. Burger chassis engineering is rather more advanced than the Sym as well. When you are bored, you can try to work out the semi-automatic option on the gearbox. I tried and failed several times! The Power button (which effectively gives you lower gear ratios) is useful though.

You are correct the sym is single cylinder, I was quite keen on the idea of the sym until I rode it even then if one or two things had been different I might have bought it. I like the fact that there is so much room on the burgman, it just feels right and thats what sold it for me in the end.
