To make you take more notice of your dashboard on some modern cars, the engine will go into limp mode after several days to get your attention. So not replacing a brake light or headlight bulb causes limp to engage after a predetermined amount of time. Not sure I like that idea but that's what happens. To be safe it only does it from a start up, not while you are driving.

I noticed a DRL out on my Zafira Tourer recently. As I check lights frequently it was a very recent outage. I popped the bonnet and expected a nightmare however a simple bayonet fitting was all that separated me from victory. With in half an hour the offending bulb was replaced, that included going to the shop to buy one. Some cars are a ball ache, I heard of one where the front grille needed removing to replace a headlight bulb. Madness, no wonder you see cars with lights out.

My new Skodas & Golf required the car to be jacked up on the offending side, then the wheel removed & then the wheel arch liner removed. Then you could replace the head light bulb by contorting yourself & reaching up into the engine bay from underneath the car. Or the side light or spot light bulb needed this too. Not easy & takes about an hour even for someone used to doing it. Lots of newer cars require this also. Madness! My Citroen needs none of that. It's so easy to work on.
