When I did went the other way got to the top and you could watch the mist coming up the hill within 5 mins couldn't see a thing. Down in Applecross at sea level was fine after pickled herrings in Applecross Cross Inn went along coast did big loop back to Inverness.

One of the advantages of automatic transmissions on two-wheels I think is shown in these videos with the constant need to frequently stop-start in passing places. No fuss on an auto-scooter, just ease off the throttle then back on again, probably without even needing a foot touching down. If I was on a geared motorcycle, I would quickly become tired of going up and down the box, and in the case of old Indian Enfield 350 that I used to own, where neutral was impossible to find when you needed it, the clutch would be very quickly getting too hot to effectively operate!

Yes, it had the neutral-finder...the tricky bit is angling your heel/ankle in such a way as to operate it, without creating an almighty crunch and of course resisting the instinct to look down at it!

I actually think the coast road North from Applecross is one of the most stunning I've ever seen! On a nice day, especially!

The NC500 has been heavily promoted in Europe, we did it in a September and the weather was pretty good but the roads were full of French motorhomes, German bikers and Dutch TVR drivers.
This was a few years ago, the dreaded COVID may have changed all that !!
