Re: Two up
how leggy is your other half?
depends on what he/she is willing to put up with and what they are used to! I managed to coax my better half to join me 2-up on a BV350 around scandinavia for 2 weeks. she managed like a trooper but the wide saddle ended up messing around with her hip a bit. I've done plenty of short jaunts on the back of an Sh300, majesty 250, NC750X but wouldn't want to go cross Europe on them
At a 34inch leg i want to be able to stretch out. maybe a silverwing 600 , burgman, or goldwing !

Do you still have the MZ Capitano ?capitano wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2020 3:39 pm It depends upon your physical size, and your expectations to be honest.
Back in the 80s my girlfriend and I did a 2000 mile camping trip on my MZ150 without issue.
Mrs Capitano and I did a few rides on the Burgman 125 pre-pandemic, including dual carriageways and motorways, and it was absolutely fine.
MCN claimed that the 100 bhp Africa Twin wasn't powerful enough for two up riding.
Your own requirements may be somewhere in between mine and MCN's.

Waldorf is your Silverwing the old cx600 silverwing or something with the same name?Waldorf wrote: Mon Oct 19, 2020 9:49 am Meldrew of York has sold his Silverwing, Dave, and bought a Forza 300.
I think he still rides two up.
He's very happy with it.

Re: Two up
It's probably also worth mentioning that York's most tedious and miserable resident also toured Europe 2 up on a 19BHP 244cc Honda Helix, and did say on here that it was the one bike he regretted selling. A 250 Maj, or an X-Max, or any other 250 upwards will do fine.Waldorf wrote: Mon Oct 19, 2020 9:49 am Meldrew of York has sold his Silverwing, Dave, and bought a Forza 300.

Hi Jaz, It's years since I last posted on here, although I do have the occasional look. My husband hasn’t been on here for almost a year and you're still as bitter and twisted towards him as you ever were.
Anyway I've only logged on to correct your inaccurate claim that Meldrew toured in Europe with a passenger when he owned a Helix. I can assure you he said no such thing, he travelled solo on all his Helix trips and tours.

Still Stalking the place though, I see, 'Mrs' Meldrew... well, if it was 'the occasional look' you got very lucky, as this is the first time I've mentioned him since he got himself banned from here.Mrs Meldrew wrote: Sun Oct 25, 2020 12:10 am Hi Jaz, It's years since I last posted on here, although I do have the occasional look. In any event I stand corrected, naturally. Notwithstanding, any 250 is capable of touring two up.

Re: Two up
Therein lies a question. I still have the old log book (pre V5) in my name, but registered to an old address. The bike itself is in one of 7 or 8 sheds belonging to a near neighbour of my Dad's in Yorkshire, whilst I'm in Sussex.Pandrop wrote: Sat Oct 24, 2020 6:18 pmDo you still have the MZ Capitano ?capitano wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2020 3:39 pm It depends upon your physical size, and your expectations to be honest.

Re: Two up
Fond memories... I owned an MZ 250/1 Supa 5 and the ETZ 250. The Supa 5 didnt go particularly quickly which was a good job tbh as the brakes were shocking and with a tank designed to relocate your wedding tackle up somewhere around your neck you didnt want anything that stopped too sharpish , The ETZ although not as handsome had a proper front brake . I reckon the Supa 5 will gain a proper cult following in years to come ..beyond the die hard MZ fans that is.capitano wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2020 9:54 pmTherein lies a question.
