I'd love this shape in a 300, feet forward, little more ground clearance, bit more underseat storage etc. It does look so much more up-to-date than even the Forza's recently new angular looks.

Wouldn't surprise me - there again, I walked past a pushbike shop today and they had some sort of flash mountain bike in the window with a price tag of £4400, so £5k for a 125 scoot strikes me as a bargain!!!!

Could well have been an electric bike. My local bicycle shop has a good selection of eBikes at the moment. Price ranging from £1650 to , are you sat down ? , £8999.

Did you convert it yourself ?
I considered converting my Specialized Stumpjumper but I still enjoy riding it the "old fashioned" way.

Not this one, no. It's a bog-stock, off-the-shelf Apollo Phaze-E from Halfords. It's since been modded a bit with a noseless saddle, mudguards etc but it's great for what it is and an utter bargain at that price.

Back 6 years ago I bought a scrapped Viking E-go for £20, repaired it and ran around on it for a few years. In 2017 I stripped its electrics and built them into a £100 Halfords MTB, an Apollo Slant. It was brilliant, and I actually wrote to Halfords and told them that they should be building something like it as a sub-£500 e-bike as they had the means to do it commercially.

Of course, I never heard a thing, and in 2018 when I became ill, it looked for a while that I'd never cycle again so I sold my home-brewed contraption.

When it became clear after surgery that I could at least ride with some minor modifications to my style and bikes, I wished I hadn't sold it. I did consider a conversion using a Woosh kit, but the Phaze-E was available, with one of Halfords' regular offers, plus my 10% NICEIC discount, at well under £500. I'd have been mad not to go for it (well that's what Mrs Capitano reckoned anyway, anticipating bits of home-brewed e-bike littering the house for months if I considered a conversion instead.)

I'm on the pedelecs forum too, and have been for some years as an infrequent contributor. I've not used my, "capitano," monicker on there to remain as anonymous as feasible. I've followed and commented on a few of the same topics as you, and followed Jimo's e-foldi topic with interest.









I'm aware that we've gone off-topic here, and if anyone objects or wants me to split the topic and move the e-bike bit to another, separate topic, I will. Just shout up.
