Hi bud , Ram air was bollocks, peeps who took the silly cover off the head found performance actually improved, had copletely forgotten about the Transatlantic Trophy

Both times I've been banned were due to cumulative speeding offences on RD250's icon_cop.gi

Remember going to Donington Park one Easter to watch the Transatlantic Trophy. Race delayed because it was snowing. Saw Colin Edwards in action for the first time and remembered thinking he had a bright future.
Not sure if that was the time Ron Haslam , due to his race bike having mechanical trouble's, rode a stock VFR750 and showed them the way to ride in the wet.

Ah yes. The 70s. What a great era for bikers. Decent summer every year (or is this just rose-tinted spectacles) and it seemed everyone in their late teens and early twenties had a bike. Leather jackets with tassels, flared jeans tucked into boots, and of course as Meldrew says, those dreadful scratch-prone visors.

Thank you for recalibrating my memory clock. To give you an idea how far out retirement throws your memory I've just left the golf club and said to the lads "See you Thursday" thinking today was Tuesday.

One thing about the 1970s. I couldn't have anything Japanese. At the time my dad had a thing about how they treated POWs during the war, so wouldn't allow anything Japanese in the house. And as I lived with my parents at the time I had no choice. So, added to the fact that I didn't earn much at the time I had MZs. German - not a word from my dad on the small matter of the murder of 6 million people in concentration camps...

Not only this but I my older brother was a self-proclaimed bike expert (although he has never had one) and reckoned British bikes were the best. Japanese ones according to him were badly made, unreliable and didn't last for long (they rev too high you know). Both my dad and my brother mellowed in later years. But this didn't stop me from having to rule out 90% of the market at the time.

They recon the old 'airhead' BMW's were built like tanks, a mate had a r65 and he had issues , I thought he was just unlucky, sounds like he wasn't the only one. After my kh 400's, which both used to overheat on the middle cylinder, I stuck to Honda for a few years after that.
