There is, take it to the dealer!
I phoned the dealer and there is an easier way, he says to stand in front of the scoot and put your hand up were the front forks go.There is a plug that goes through a rubber like gaitor, pull both off and remove a spring clip and take out bulb. Reverse instructions to replace.
I've had a look but there seems to be a lot cables there not just one going to the bulb.

I doubt anyone on this forum would let a Halfords employee anywhere their scooter! Would you let one hack away at your Silverwing Meldrew!

Meldrew wrote:What's the problem with Halfords, they're a nationwide chain, they're open when your local bike shop has closed, and they have deals and offers on all the time. Why nitpick about the quality and make of headlight bulbs Halfords sell, especially when you don't know how to get the blown bulb out and the new one in.

However Halfords do offer to fit headlight bulbs for customers for a small charge, and it's probably a lot less than taking in to a dealership.
Unfortunately my confidence in Halfords is low when they change light bulbs (for cars) as twice now I have paid for it to be done and both times it ended up in the car garage sorting it out when it was being serviced. True it was the same store both times and maybe another store might be better at this process.

Hi Bern
I've had look and there way in the manual is similar to the linked YouTube vid posted on here. That's a lot of Tupperware to remove for someone not very confident about these things (as in me).

It's worth asking the dealer what he would charge to do the job. If you're unsure about doing it why put yourself through the anxiety and worry.

And ask if you can watch?

Just a thought basil69, is the rear light on with ignition on? It is rare for both elements in a bulb to blow at the same time. If rear tale light is not on and no headlight it could just be a fuse that has blown, worth checking.

I'm assuming it just needs replacing but were is the best place to get a bulb from?
Normally in the past I would go to Halfords but recently I have not been impressed by the quality of the bulbs regardless of make.

Any maxisym owners had to change the bulb, is it easy to do :?:
Had to change bulbs a few times and a real ball ache, with both hands up the back of the lamps there's not much room to wangle new bulbs in to place then hold in place while flicking retaining clips over, then putting plug on to bulb, then rubber grommet/cover. You will need plenty patience

Not just scooters. Had a Ford Focus that blew bulbs regularly after about 5 years of ownership. The left hand one was a nightmare due to battery location. The trick was to remove the wheel arc cover. Later found you could use Transit van bulbs in the Focus and that cured the regular blowing of the bulbs.
